As much as I love playing chess, this is a dumb use of the IP
Why is it that every 40k title in the past 2-3 years has been absolute shit

I'm not big into WH40k, but from what my brother tells me is that GW mishandles the property more than Lucasarts did in its last years. I mean say what you will about Dawn of War or Space Marine, but games like this make Fire Warrior look decent (haven't played it myself, but everyone I know says it is awful).

"Regicide" actually exists as an in-lore chess clone in 40k.
It's not the best use, but it has an explanation.
And the whole game looks gorgeous compared to the latest titles.
Really? Look I appreciate what looks to be actual effort on the part of the developer put into another throwaway licensed 40K game but this is tiresome. It's like GW doesn't recognize that flooding the market with this shit doesn't improve their brand, it just makes it look like a confused mess born out of desperation. The whoring out of the 40K IP is only making things worse in the long run I think.

It does indeed, but the pieces on it aren't themed around Space Marines and Orks, as far as I know. Seems to just be standard chess with WH40K "Empire of Man" names (Bishops = Ecclesiarchs etc), which could make a good case for it being based around the interminable rounds of feuding amongst the High Lords of Terra
in the midst of Warhammer Fantasy, the upcoming MMO and Armageddon, for a moment I forgot that the IP was whored out to anybody who wanted it.
I am still convinced that PlatinumGames needs to approach Games Workshop because as it currently stands, the grim darkness of the 41st millennium will look like sunshines and rainbows compared to the future of the 40K license.

fire warrior is a blast its just such a weird game.
its basically C&C Renegade, but 40k. It's not a bad game just not a warhammer game
Fuck this game, where is space marine 2?
Amazing detail in animation, models and textures.
gw gave the license to a bunch of cheap devs and publish it at a high price because people keep buying it for some reason
They hope maybe, just maybe someone is going to do a good game.
At least this looks like it has had some effort put it, it looks better than some of the other recent W40K games.

Considering what they planned for the story for the next game, i'm not sure i'd want it. It was going to be something that did not even slightly fit in with the lore and seemed like something someone who knew absolutely nothing about W40K would write.

The only problem with Firewarrior really was a few things which didn't quite fit in with the Lore (they could, but not very well), other than that it was alright.
forget space marine 2, wheres dawn of war 3
hopefully relic is still working on it behind the scenes
