Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and not sure whether this is the right place to ask for suggestions for something like security cameras. I am in a search for security cameras for my store. Some of the groceries have been missing from my store and I am not able to figure it out. When this happens, who does this ? I have been recommended from my friends for DVR channel system, IP cameras and some other things that I don't remember exactly. Are they any useful or something else is much better please suggest! I have got various sources like I viewed some of the devices on amazon.com, ebay, q-see.com etc. If someone has any experience with such camera systems or other, a feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
You would have more luck over at the Hardware & Software sub-section.
It's probably not what you're looking for but I strapped an old android phone to the door to my room and made an IP camera out of it which I can check on my second monitor via a browser window as a makeshift intercom. I guess I could record that either via the camera directly or using screen capture software to capture parts of the browser window :v:

That's pretty cool, or is it?

If you can afford it, possibly get them professionally installed there are tons of company's and electricians that do this type of stuff. They usually have easier access to professional grade. I don't know where you live, but most places sent a person to your store and give you suggestions bases on your needs. I've personally avoided all the ones I've been seeing on Ebay, they're not really that great and the support is pretty horrible. If you're going to get cameras, get them installed in the retail area (Where customers shop) and get some in the worker areas (Helps with employee theft). I would also get cameras in areas that you have highly valuable/highly popular merchandise such as cigarettes/booze/etc. People steal anything - food including. If someone can get away with it they will, but for all you know if your on-hands are not matching up maybe you got someone stealing it from the back.
True, MR-X. I totally agree with you. Thanks for your feedback regarding the ebay support. You are probably right, it is better to get installed from a valuable merchandiser. Thanks for the suggestions. It will certainly help me to track customers and employee who are involved in theft. I have heard about q-see products a lot. I should call their person & get feedback according to my location and needs. That would be the best way.
