Recently I have got strange connection speed problems. I mean at Sunday's morning It was working on full speed (128kb/s download). And at something around afternoon it drastically slowed down, and that low speed is hanging until now (2-30kb/s download), I don't know what's happening, my brother, which I share the router, also has these issues. And now I can't watch YouTube videos or play through Internet.
Any ideas what might cause this?
Are you downloading anything? Is your comuter downloading automatic updates? I've had problems like this before, and what you should do is check for any of the signs listed above, and if all else fails, contact you internet company. Sometimes they lower the connection speed, hoping you won't notice. This sin't always the case, but try dropping them a line.
I'm sure that it's not caused by downloading anything. And I don't think that my internet company would lower it. And if they would do so, it would be desired limit, and, for instance, when I played Team Fortress 2 yesterday, my ping was jumping from 80 - 300 on server that I used to have got ~55ms.
Could be lots of people are suddenly using it.
If that could happen, it would end at sunday night.
My mom has been having a similar problem. Who's your ISP?
Have you tried resetting your router?

TP (Telekomunikacja Polska [Polish Telecommunication]).

Yes, I did. Many times.
I just saw something weird. I just came from school (1 P.M. here) and connection seems to be at normal state.

Shit, It also came over limit. (160kb/s)
If someone with the same ISP on your street or in your area has been going torrent crazy and downloading/uploading a lot of stuff, your ISP sometimes will drop your lines speed dramaticaly. Just give it time. It should speed back up in a day or two. If the person using all the bandwidth doesn't stop, your ISP may contact he/she, especially if they have uncapped their modem.
Yes, I noticed that torrents drastically lower my connection speed.
So is it faster now?
same prob here..
:frown:
Not much.
Actually it's not much slower as before, so for instance Left 4 Dead is playable. Somehow.
May be issues on with the router itself, and it resolved itself somehow. You replug everything?
I found out today that ISP has some problems, because my friend with normal modem is experiencing same issues.
When I'm downloading Linux torrents, my internet will randomly drop down to 4.0KB/s and an exclamation point will be on the connection icon, yet steam stays connected.
The cable and phone lines within 100 miles of me went down for about a day, that was my problem... hmm
duno.
