By the looks of it, it pretty much is Gundam Extreme VS, but without the Gundams.

I haven't really dabbled into much of the Gundam universe, aside from watching Gundam Wing and playing Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon. I wouldn't mind playing something in that style of gameplay though so I'll be giving this a shot when i get a chance.
