Or for that matter, search your computer for illicit files if need be? do you think it's an invasion of privacy? I for one think that they should NOT be allowed to watch what you do, I think they should be watching for terrorist activity rather than some guy downloading a song or two. Also, they shouldn't put out fake torrents as bait just to catch someone trying to download them. But if they have a valid reason to arrest you, they should be allowed to search your computer. What's your opinion, FP? content: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=18904742 http://www.justice.gov/criminal/cybercrime/searching.html
If you're doing something illegal, yeah.
If you're doing something illegal, yeah.
But... that's like what the would be wanting to look for. "Tom! This guy is doing something LEGAL on the internet... start up the van."
I don't think torrenting is that big a deal. The DVD/CD/Game still gets bought eventually afterall. But of course, if you're downloading child porn or something then you should be monitored. The feds just have thier priorities in the wrong order.
Also I sense this thread is going to be full of "Well they can do this and that but god no not my :filez:! (Insert some random evil corporation destroying the music and by stealing it you are rescuing the world comment here)"
As long as I can get a bit of privacy once in a while, talking to people and such.

Copyright infringement and child molestation are two completely different things.
Hell fucking no.
The government protects companies interests too much. They're willing to invade on our privacy, just so they can catch a few torrenters. It's fucking bullshit.
I don't think torrenting is that big a deal. The reason might be that the world isn't a fairytale. Some people may buy the games they downloaded, but majority (>95%) just don't give a fuck if they get to play for free.
It would sure as hell decrease the presents of piracy, and $20 on every single person going against it is pirating themselves. Problem is, I know this will end in you getting monthly mails with what websites you've visited, plus It'd give me paranoia, knowing the government constantly watches over me. (If they aren't already :tinfoil:)

Arresting the people who download it won't stop it. Arresting the people who make it will.
No, why should they?
Yes, could keep those dorky little creepers off of the internet
Depending on what they are monitoring. I have noting to hide, so yes. Edit: oh wait: I almost forgot downloading illegal movies, music and programs is illegal. Fuck the police actually, no.
As long as they don't charge me thirty three and a half billion dollars for listening to a segment of spanish flea
No, fuck them. I don't want no Big Brother watching me on the net.
No thanks.
No. Just no.
and what if some idiot on 4chan spams cp?
and what if some idiot on 4chan spams cp?
Then arrest him. they're not monitoring what YOU do, they're looking around to see if someone is doing anything wrong. If they're just looking around for someone doing something illegal, that's like a patrol car. If they're inside your computer searching around and reading your emails, that's as if they were right over your shoulder with a pair of handcuffs waiting to arrest you
No.
I'm fairly certain if the fed's monitored my internet activity I would scare them away, so yeah. [editline]10:12AM[/editline] "tom! She's being raped....by plants!"
Tis pone of those dilemmas. If you are innocent you have nothing to hide but then again why should someone else be allowed to see what you are doing 24/7.
I don't think so, no.
If you're doing something illegal, yeah.
Thus, the Patriot Act. Hell. The. Fuck. No.
Yeah, what are they going to do? Go, 'Go get a life, you go on Facepunch lolol' Unless you're looking at CP or something
Not unless you're suspected of child porn or something.
No, it's an invasion of privacy, even if someone's doing something illegal. They'd have to have probable causes to watch what everyone's doing on their computers.
not at all. it's your privacy, your freedom of speach fed should stop being nazis for once
