The hell, Square? You redo / relaunch the newest one and the 'successor' to your first MMO in the FF series, and then turn around and release another expansion for the old one? Isn't that a bit stupid, and might detract from players for the newer one?
Would you rather them drop all support for it instead? It's good it is still getting expansions.

So good on them for updating FF11 I guess.

why did square enix turn Final Fantasy into an MMO?

FF11 is one hell of a MMO though. Very challenging.
