• Recommendations on a mid-tower case?

When I built my current rig I didn't bother thinking about how much room I would have in my (future) college dorm. Now, of course, I find out the rooms are pretty small and I won't have anywhere to put my computer where it won't get in the way, so I'd like to get a smaller mid-tower case. Can the FP H&S regulars recommend a good one? It doesn't have to be flashy, I'd just like to get a solidly built case. In fact, I think I'd rather have a simple-looking case, rather than one made of 90% LED's. [editline]Edited:[/editline] Right now, I'm looking at the Corsair Obsidian 650D, and I'm also considering Lian-Li or Fractal, although you guys will have to suggest cases from them.
haf 912, haf 922, antec 100
The 912 looks nice, as does the Antec 100. Just out of curiosity, what sort of difference is there between the 100 and the 300? At least, other than price. And does all the mesh paneling on the Lanboy even do anything?
think of the 100 as the replacement for the 300
Really? Well, that makes this a little easier then.
I've all but decided on the 912, does anyone have a better case to suggest?
Using a 912 right now, it's great for the price.
It looks like it's pretty well built.
the 912 is pretty much the best case in it's price range, if you can stand the ricer looks
Didn't look ricer to me...
Led fans + mesh everywhere = Ricer. But yea it's really good case.
I picked up a case with similar criteria just a few days ago, if you haven't ordered yet I'd recommend checking out some Fractal mid tower cases. The case I picked up: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352001
Led fans + mesh everywhere = Ricer. But yea it's really good case.
The 912 doesn't have led fans...?
If you've got a micro-atx motherboard (I assume you do not), this is a very nice case: http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-m40-cube-black.html It was out of stock on newegg, so here's another shop. It's small enough for you to have it standing on your desk, and at the same time, airflow isn't too bad (my 6950 sits on ~77 under heavy load).
The 912 doesn't have led fans...?
The 912 Plus has red LEDs in the front fan. And no, I have a standard ATX board. Well here, what about the Corsair Obsidian 650D? Anyone have experience with this case?
Too bad I didn't get a 912 Plus, those red fans could've given me 10fps more in all my games.
there's far more to the 912 Plus than LEDs
I actually prefer the 650D's look to the 912. However, I've never owned a Corsair case, and I only thought about it because Milky used a 700D in B/B. Is the 650 actually well-built?
Too bad I didn't get a 912 Plus, those red fans could've given me 10fps more in all my games.
Well no shit, how could you have missed something like that?
corsair's cases are great the 650D is considerably better than the 912 but that's because there's also a considerable price difference there's also a lot of good cases in the area between, fractal's define R3 and some lian lis spring to mind [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] if you want a smaller case maybe look at the lian li PC-A05NB, it swaps some HDD bays for an area for the PSU, which means you're cutting the height of the PSU out of the total height of the case
I looked through some of the Lian-Li cases, and I've never heard of Fractal, but I'll take your word that they're good. And I noticed the price difference, though Amazon is apparently selling the 650D for $171 as opposed to Newegg's $210.
think of the 100 as the replacement for the 300
Also I think the 100 is cheaper than the 300 on some sites.
I think I've moved on from Antec and CM to Corsair, Lian-Li and Fractal. I can take a higher price if it means better overall quality.
I can take a higher price if it means better overall quality.
Go Lian Li then you can't get better build quality, a A05 or A04 is a great little cases.
It looks like the A04 and A05 are mini tower, though. I'm not THAT pressed for space. Are there any mid-tower Lian-Li cases that are worth looking at?
