Ohai.
I have a HP Pavillion G6 laptop. Its been functioning pretty well, aside from these two little incidents were the screen on it simply fades to black.
The last one happened about an hour ago. I had just about finished downloading the lua cache for a garry's mod server, and it happened.
I could still here the fan, a lot of lights were still on, the battery was at 100%, the laptop definetly was not overheating, as it was actually cooler than the usual.
I'm wondering if it might be this thing called game booster, which, when used, switches to if its own power plan, if allowed. I'm wondering if this laptop can't handle its settings.
I have accidentally hit the screen once or twice, not on purpose, and it wasn't very rough at all, so I doubt that's the problem.
Here are my system specs if you need them.
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II N660 Dual-Core Processor
RAM: 4GB (3.7 usable.)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Video Card: AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (its shared memory, by the way!)
If you need anything else, please do ask. Thanks for reading.
If it "fades" to black it's usually to do with the power settings
That's the display turning off as a result of power saving settings. Is it fading to black while you're actively using the computer?
Try disabling this "game booster" and see if the problem occurs.
Well I uninstalled game booster, but its happened a third time.
This time, I took note than the fan sount fairly loud, and it was once again when I was loading a gmod server. I was active on the computer, so it wasn't the power settings. But after pushing a few keys, it came back on saying 'Resuming Windows', which makes me wonder that maybe there some key that I'm accidentally hitting that makes it go to sleep mode?
Well, windows just released a driver update for the card a day or two ago, and funny enough, its under the section display. Fingers crossed its fixed my issue.
