• smod console commands dont work

I recently have installed smod, and i just cant seem to get any of the extra things inside it to work. i bound a key to "gordon kick", and it did nothing. i tried changing the difficulty to the "SMOD" level. it gave me an error in the console for each command that that command ran. nothing changed. same for gore. I have installed different versions, fromdifferent sources to try and fix this, and the same thing happend for each. anyone know what is going wrong?
Ever since Valve updated HL2 to the Orange Box engine, it broke compatibility with SMOD, download SMOD Redux V8, the addon pack for it and the emergency patch to combat the break. Also Valve added maps with HDR into HL2, so copy all the maps from the 'Half-Life 2 Content' GCF with GCFscape into SMOD's 'maps' folder.
Smod broke with the new HL2 update, and the creators are too lazy to fix it try googling Smod tactical: project life it's a version of Smod that i know works with the most recent version of HL2 Edit: do what MasterFen said if you want a more similar Smod to the original, but installing Project life is just easier in my opinion also i prefer it
thanks masterfen. also, Rizzler, i want it to be more like the original. really look orward to the banannanades and exploding PSP disc launcher.
You can still use those in Tactical, you just need the cheats Tactical also has about 80% more guns and options than the original Smod
I downloaded everything that you told me to (redux, then the add-on pack, then the patch) and it simply fails completely to work. Most of the time that I try to launch it, it says validating game files, then the an error message saying that the steam servers are busy. I have restored steam several times and this keeps happening. Did an update break the patch as well?
You need to change the gameinfo.txt for SMod to use the Source SDK Base 2006 and not HL2.
You need to change the gameinfo.txt for SMod to use the Source SDK Base 2006 and not HL2.
That's what the emergency patch does. You need to install the addon pack BEFORE the patch if that helps.
I did that. I'll just go ahead and do a reinstall and see if that fixes it.
