Uplay sucks but it doesn't suck enough to be a reason not to play the game. You have to use it to install and play the game but I've never had it get in the way of the game itself.
I've only ever used it for Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, and Watch_Dogs and that was last year. I have no idea if it has gotten better or worse.

Entirely worth it.
The only issue you might have is where Uplay automatically logs out/shuts down because of "idle" time despite the fact you're downloading something.

Honestly, I would say they have made some great improvements to the platform. Definitely not nearly as clunky as it used to be.
Uplay just sucks because it's another thing I have to boot to play a game. At least with origin it boots up really fast and I can just forget about it but uplay is usually launched on top of steam and I remember it taking just as long to boot up
They really give away fantastic games. Except The Crew everything are highly critically acclaimed titles. People often talk shit about Ubisoft, but they really have great and very varied games.
I could never replay this game back when I had W7 since it plain wouldn't work. I hope it'll work on w10.
