Fuck this bullshit, You're pretty much forced to use a different password for EVERYTHING since it's just a matter of time before everything gets hacked or some other bullshit.

Having a separate password for all websites and game accounts is a very sensible thing to do. You just need to develop a system for how you make passwords - like the first 3 letters of the site/game name + your middle name + year of your birth - and bingo you've a unique password for every site and you won't forget it because you remember the system which generated it.
Get Keepass, look at what the site allows for creating passwords (like only number and not longer as 20 characters). Let Keepass create one for that site/game/whatever. Keepass has a great function that will say that a password after X amount of time should be changed, use it, not all site or services tell they are hacked. If a website tell you they got hacked, change the password for it, even if they tell you your password is safe. Use a email address that you only use for games. Never fill in your real birthday location or name anywhere (stick to a fake one of you need to).
Randomly generated passwords like that are a bitch to remember though, and being reliant on a system like Keepass to store them is a crutch IMO. Personally I really like the sequence of random words method, if you can come up with a mental image to associate with your passwords they're super easy to remember. Then you can separate the words with special symbols or numbers to make it even harder to crack. "Pronounceable" password generated by Keepass:
BuradNurgyingEbUcacturUfpha
Gibberish, hard to remember due to lack of connections Random sequence of words:
chimney!baton!calculator!fight
Nonsensical mental image, easy to remember due to absurdity, same character count even without the symbols

If you'd like anyone who knows who you are much more likely to find out your passwords, that is. And as always, a relevant xkcd:
