Just put in the new card, it's getting power, but I'm getting no feed to the monitor. I didn't bother to uninstall my current drivers on the off chance that I couldn't get the new card to work. Now that that has happened, what should be my next step? I'm on my old card right now, and that has the monitor working fine if that helps. Misspelled the card' name, it's the 5830.
Could we get some more details? I find the OP a little lacking.
Well, I'm running with a 620W Antec psu right now. I'm not sure what else you need. The thing that really bugs me is that it works fine with this card.
Continued to tinker all day, nothing so far. ATI support is unavailable until Monday. Additional specs if anyone is interested. My current card is an Nvidia 9300 GE. As stated above, my psu is an Antec 620W. Considering the HD 5830 only needs 500 watts, I'm really nervous and confused about my whole situation, so any help is appreciated.
The 5830 doesn't pull 500W, it's just the recommended PSU rating based on average system power consumption. In reality, the 5830 pulls like 150-170W under max load.
Well, alright. So I'm assuming that my power supply isn't the issue. The card maybe? It could be DoA, but I hope that's not the issue. It's late, and I have work, so I'll tinker more on Sunday. If any of you guys have any theories or troubleshooting tips, please post them. :buddy:
1) Pull the card out and put it back in. 2) Try a different DVI port. 3) Try putting the card in a different PCIe slot (smaller PCIe slots will also work if the back of the PCIe slot is open.) 4) Make sure the 6 pin power connector isn't loose. 5) Try it in a different computer (friends machine, neighbors, etc.)
