At one point or another someone in my family downloaded something with a virus.
Are there any simple fixes?
Norton
um we cant help unless you either tell us the strain or what exactly is going on. you dont go to the doctor and go "i think im sick" and not tell them why you think that.

this
and try something like mbam?
MBAM + Combofix if necessary.
Forgive me. I should have known better. Brain fart on my part.
It started with a delta search virus, so I attempted to delete it, where I did not delete it completely. Now I'm getting highlighted word ads, clicks on legitimate links bring up pop up ads, slow computer, ads everywhere, etc. I downloaded this to see if it would help to no avail. I'll try MBAM.
Malware bytes is much better than microsofts thing. AVG isn't bad either
I actually had AVG whoops. Doing a scan.

A couple scans later and the highlight ads are gone. I'll see if the other ones leave in a bit.

HOLY SHIT.
So I fixed Chrome, but my parents use IE for whatever reason, so I opened it up to see what was going on there.
5 toolbars, all saying "FIX YOUR PC" and "FREE MUSIC AT AMAZON" and pop ups everywhere.
This is after an AVG scan removed 19 potentially dangerous threats from my computer.
Might want to remove those. Anti-root kit/anti-malware is also a good idea
Hide every possible link to Internet Explorer, and force your parents to use Chrome/Firefox with Adblock.
