• Any reason to upgrade my motherboard?

I currently have an ASUS P6T motherboard with an Intel I7 and 3x1024 MB RAM. I don't plan on upgrading it anytime soon, but I'd like to know if there's even a reason to do so. I couldn't care less about extra features like more PCI-E slots and USB 3.0, because I'm probably never going to use them anyway. I'm more concerned about the overall performance in games, including limitations on hardware which directly affects gaming. Misc question: In old games that were designed for single-cores, does the power of multiple cores turn totally obsolete? E.g. Pentium 4 3.0 GHz vs my I7 clocked at 2.67 GHz.
Not really any reason to upgrade the mobo unless you need more ports/slots or something, it's not going to affect gameplay (unless you have an x16 slot at x4 for example) And no, the i7 should be faster because A. It can do more in fewer cycles (efficiency) B. The single core processor is also running all the background processes and services
