...for about an hour now. Tried a shut-down, tried re-installing it, tried disconnecting from my network, how do I fix this?
goto %appdata% then open the .minecraft folder and delete the bin folder.
It will redownload itself.
and this "appdata" would be where? I'm searching C: right now and can't find.
Just copy it to your path bar in Explorer.

Go to explorer, wire "%appdata%"
It'll zoom you right to it..
