Will MS points work in Australia if they're from america?

I'm asking because I want minecraft for 360, but I don't want to buy 2000 ms points when all I want is 1600
They only sell 1500/500 in Australia, for 33$, but in america they sell it for 20$ as just 1600 instead of 1500+500
Would the american one work?
And before you say "BUY IT ON PC"
I have it on PC.

I'm not certain but It would be nice if they did work, but I'm pretty certain it will say somewhere on the card that it can only be used where you bought it/in a certain area of the globe, you could try checking the Microsoft website
