Make the wide bit line up with the other wide bit
If you line up the plug and the port and it looks like a +, simply rotate the plug (or socket!) 90 degrees
Do not rotate the plug and the socket, or you're back at square one

Don't forget to properly apply thermal paste between the contacts.
Crest makes the best paste btw. Don't use that colgate crap it doesn't fucking work.

Also use mint flavor, most are these days but you need to make sure.
The minty freshness will cool your cpu by at least 5c
