It is this generations Lego. I am not surprised at all, it is cheaper for the parents and it allows them to literally create whatever they want. I foresee it dying because there will be no "collectible sets" like Lego offers, and is the big reason of why they make a shit tonne of money.
Who knows, maybe a company like Lucasfilm will partner with Mojang to assist in making a 1:1 scale of the Death Star, and it is used as DLC.
