• HELP! Virus zbot.f won't stop infecting my files!
    11 replies, posted
I was installing things, but then after running the apps, the virus zbot.f won't stop infecting my files. At this rate it's more potent than skynet itself. AVG detects the virus, but it also blocks the infected files. How to get rid of this thing? I never saw anything replicating this fast Please suggest your expert advice. I'm at the end of my wit here. CUrrently trying Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool The culprit: Win32/Zbot.F
Have you tried this yet? http://www.avg.com/remove-win32-zbot
Have you tried this yet? http://www.avg.com/remove-win32-zbot
Not yet. Thank you. Would it destroy my precious files? I can't seem to download it. Do you have a copy that I can download somewhere? Nvm, the antivirus is fucking with internet download manager. Probably IDM is infected too.

TDSSKiller didnt detect anything. If I'm not mistaken, it's for the zero-access variant of the virus?
TDSSKiller's best on ZeroAccess, yeah, but the other utilities should work. Also everything I'm seeing for dealing with Zbot is to go into safe mode with networking, then kill the running processes, delete the entries it made in the registry, then nuke the files themselves. However, the instructions don't explain how to go about identifying it and assume you can do that yourself.
Ok. For now I'll just wait for rmzbot.exe to finish hunting them down, which will probably take like 6 hours. Can't start my pc back becase its scanning on startup. See you again soon
Just finished with rmzbot.exe scan. Seems like working. AVG diddnt detect zbot no more. But somehow other viruses also keeps on appearing one by one. Running windows malicious software removal complete scan on them. Another 6 hours
Zeus is a vector for other malware and shit to get in, so you're not done, you just finished cleaning one of the breach points. Good luck.
Finished with Windows Malicious SOftware removal. Ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware RKill Emsisoft Emergency Kit AVG Supposed to be clean now. Unfortunately there are some casualties. Need to reinstall several infected programs. Thanks everybody! And, is Windows Defender any good to guard my PC?
Well it's better than nothing, but not good enough in my eyes. Take a look at this: https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/
My suggestion: - Get to a non infected Computer - Download a bootable virus removal programm (Some vendors offer this tool for free) - Create a bootable cd/usb stick - Start your infected computer and boot the USB/CD. - Follow the steps provided by the vendor.
