I resubscribe but it costs just too damn much and really need to play it with friends to get the full experience and not be bored.
"much like dwarf fortress."
EVE has a fairly steep learning curve, but it is not like dwarf fortress with it's brick wall learning curve.

Does dwarf fortress even have a tutorial or do you have to read the key bindings to know what to do?
they can start by making the game fun to play
I tried EVE again recently, the thing that put me off is the size of list with the tutorials
They should try to make it F2P as well.
Fuck I'd pay way more than 15 a month just to actually enjoy the damn game and not have to sift through 50 billion pages of information just to find what i want not be there.
It is fun to play, you just have to do a bunch of unnecessary shit to get to the good part.
If they sped up skill training significantly and made missions pay more I'm sure their subscriber base would skyrocket, right now it takes way too long for newbies to get anywhere, that's if they even make it past the boring as hell tutorial.
Really the entire beginning of the game needs a massive revamp so it's actually entertaining.
I agree, I gave up on it half way through the damn tutorial.
Any game that has a rad/s units in one of its attributes has and will always have a steep learning curve.

Yeah, I thought the game was pretty cool actually, but it never stuck to me because of that very fact; you did all the boring parts, the majority of the game, to be able to have a shitload of fun in the minority. It's cool that they're trying to make the game more appealing to new players, but there would have to be way more changes than that to make it something I'd personally enjoy; it'd then may as well be a new game.
Step 1 on page 1 should be fixing the UI. Holy fuck is it a pain in the ass to navigate. Things you're likely to do often are hidden under six to ten context menus, while things you never fucking use ARE PERMANENTLY PINNED TO THE GODDAMN NEOCOM!
Fix the UI, maybe let players assume direct control of frigs with xBox pads/WSAD, and you're good to go.

People like different things, I for some reason have an excel fetish so this game appeals to me
My friend said that he got owned easy, that's why I didn't start
Please for the love of god, don't make them game suck for veterans.
That said, EVE Online DOES have a horribly steep learning curve.
Also it's too expensive for someone like me who only has a itty bitty amount of time to play games for.
But that's just me who'd like a "pay-as-you-play" scheme for casuals and people with tight schedule instead of pay per "month/ quarter of a year/ year".
They should make the tutorials more stimulating than just "read this text box in the corner for half an hour and learn game"

Very much this.
I have a bunch of games I play at seperate times, and games I commonly play seem to swing back and forth (one month its one certain game, next month its something else...) so instead of paying 15 dollars a month let us pay for hours of ingame play time.
I think EVE was easier to learn than a lot of other space games, it actually made sense, there was logic behind every system instead of arbitrary rules.
I played for 2 years but not anymore.
Please don't make it suck for the vets CCP, it's not EVE if you can't bring an AF to a asteroid belt and sink some hapless miner.
Too damn expensive, I liked it but I'm not paying that!
learning the mechanics of the game is actually pretty easy, but figuring out what to do with missions etc. is horribly explained.

It can be already. Pay for a Sub, or if you play a lot (Or are just high enough 'level' to take on difficult tasks) Pay $300mil for 30 days of game time instead. I recall making most of my money Station Trading. As long as you watch the market, you can make quite the amount of money in an hour or two, and never have to move. Hell I remember buying a small stack of something for 8mil a piece, ferrying them 9 hops through highsec without a problem, and selling them for 36mil each. Easy Money

That's pretty much how I operated, though I quit right before I made enough to pay for my subscription with in-game currency.

Yeah, I never got into EvE enough to really rake in enough money to be able to throw it away on ships and equipment to lose in PvP. So I stuck with my Drake for PvE, and my Merlin for PvP. NEVER Underestimate a Merlin. It's brought me many victories
There was this one time I had a friend with me, and I let out a Jetcan because this Domi was taking everyone else's jetcan bait looking for a fight. So I dropped one. I had my friend, in my fleet, ready to secretly lock the Domi up and shoot at it since he could target without them being alerted. So he took my jetcan, locked me up, I locked him up, Friend locked him up. Then I told him to shoot the Domi. Domi thought I shot him, shot me, nearly one shotting me, Insta-Dead from Station defenses. It was great, I couldn't believe he fell for it
Counter-Counter-Jetcan Baiting
I enjoy your noob tears, crying about how its "too hard" or "too complicated". EVE doesn't need many more players, just a few, and then we're good. Don't want the good stuff to get too crowded, you can go play WoW instead.
edit: only qwerty gets the joke
The massive learning curve was one of my favorite things about it to be honest.

Although saying stuff like this is ridiculously stupid.

Too bad the people who made it probably like money, eh?
It's like X3:TC
It's boring as fuck at first but if you barrel through the shit and start learning how to do stuff, it gets good.
I've been playing a lot of RIFT recently because I like traditional MMOs more but I played EVE before that for a good 2 months and after a week or so of play it started becoming enjoyable.
X3 is far easier to get into than EVE.

Well aren't you hardcore.
I don't think this is good.
It's not too hard, its just hard to get into.
