this means its dying already or just trying to get more people into?
It's dying. http://www.swtor.com/server-status
It's quite rare to see multiple severs on heavy load.
MMO servers typically aren't exploding with players at 9:47 EST on a weekday.
i tried the free weekend. it was Ok. I don't think i would pay 14 dollars a month for it.

Looks like its not exploding with players at any time.
I wouldn't say it's dying, but it's definitely not thriving like people thought it would
Everybody I know who bought it is no longer a subscriber either because they found it disappointing or they finished a story or two and felt done with it.
And that's why they should have just made it another Single Player RPG like the others.
I think this is good. It's nice to try an mmo before you buy if you're uncertain because it's so much of an investment. I'm glad they're doing this.

That is a lot of servers for such a young MMO. They probably should consolidate and merge some. Name changes will have to happen and people will be pissed, but do it before it becomes too much trouble.
There doesn't appear to be a lack of players, just they're spread out so thin.
Don't even know why devs even bother making their MMOs with traditional subscription or cover-fee based business models. WoW is already dominant in that market. Should just be F2P, they're already monetizing in-game items anyway.
theyre desperate for players right guys? its time to let it go and move on star wars is old right? right guys? right?
I tried it
hated it
found out where all of the money that bioware put into animation went to

That's okay. I'm not defending the game. I don't even play it.
But it's still really dumb to say an MMO is dying then link live server stats on a Wednesday morning.

I can't help but wonder why you would make an MMO with practically no endgame content.
I can't help but wonder why you would make an MMO with practically no endgame content.
im sure they expected everyone to take their time and play it like its kotor and not rush to max level...
I can't help but wonder why you would make an MMO with practically no endgame content.
I was in the beta for months leading up to release and we never got to test the endgame content. From what I hear they only had their small internal team who tested the smaller stuff, with the larger stuff not even being tuned at all, which is why there were so many mechanic/loot bugs.
Damn with all the money EA wasted on TORtanic they could have made republic commando 2 on the frostbite engine or made battlefront 3
Don't be silly. EA doesn't even own those IP rights

I could understand it if it wasn't subscription based. I mean most people just wanted to play through the story like they would a singleplayer RPG so for that reason, the sub fee price model just doesn't seem to fit.

For $60 it's actually pretty decent. The leveling (atleast going through it once) with friends was a blast. But we all quit before putting down the $15/mo because we got to the endgame and found nothing but undertuned, poorly tested, buggy content.
I think the breaking point was when we tried the D7 instance on hardmode and the second, third, and fourth bosses of a 5 boss dungeon all broke.
I've been playing since launch and I still love the game.

I thought Crytek had the rights to the Battlefront series.
I got the last trial I enjoyed it thinking about buying, but theirs not really anyone on and lack of end game content doesn't seem fun. I'd buy if it wasn't subscription.
Only reason I'm not buying it is because EA is involved.
Swtor is decent enough. Only MMO that I've bought at release that has managed to last more than the original 30 days.

I count 3 heavy EU servers, 1 very heavy and the rest is standard or light.
How many fucking servers does the EU have? I swear to God, most be something like 60!
by hearing this, I was gonna go ahead and log on but then I remembered I already uninstalled it

It's because everyone has already finished the game, and after end game there's really no point in playing again. Bioware went in the wrong direction with making an MMO rather than KotOR III.
I think they should just go Free to Play, that should make all the servers filled with people.

nope, will not happen. Their slaves to EA, the game will be closed down and the servers will go offline by next year at this patch.
