How do i open the .dmp file?
To open the .dmp files you need the debugging tools from microsoft, if it's not too big, upload it somewhere and I'll take a look for you if you wish.
Sorry to take so long
I ran the program WhoCrashed and this is what it gave me

Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is really responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.
19 crashes :(((
Did you update any drivers prior to 7/17/10?
You can attempt to a system roll back prior to then.
Also, re-seat your memory.. this can be the cause of some issues.
I cant really remember but if i did it would have been the video drivers
Im thinking of re-installing windows and starting fresh
I also saw that zonealarms seems to have something to do with some of the errors any ideas what that might be?
I will reseat them tomorrow when i get up too tired now :P
Richy, I think you nailed it.
Try removing it and see if you got any problems afterwards. I do notice that most of these errors are caused by:
Win32.sys <Why? No idea. in command (with admin privledge), run sfc /scannow >
DirectX modules. Also strange.. but can be a sign of something else.
Checkpoint zone alarm Hmmmmmmm we're onto something
Intel Wifi drivers. Network drivers.. which would be in relation of a firewall driver... HMMM.
Uninstall checkpoint.

I though that date was familiar, that was when i last reinstalled windows and of course with it the anti-virus and zone alarms so it must be that
I have uninstalled ZA (thats what you wanted me to remove right?)
Running that command now will tell you what it said.
BTW is there any other good firewalls that will work on w7?
-edit-
Scan came out fine and just said: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations
I have been getting a couple of BSODs lately as well, mostly since upgrading to the latest ATI Catalyst Drivers (10.7)
for me, it doesn't occur often enough for me to really mind it, but I suggest trying to completely wipe your display drivers with driver sweeper and reinstall them...I'll probably be doing that sometime this weekend to see if it fixes the issue.

Report back if you got alot of viruses.
BTW would having both Windows firewall and zone alarms firewall activated do this?
BTW would having both Windows firewall and zone alarms firewall activated do this?
Probably not, but deactivate Windows Firewall; it's shit anyway compared to ZoneAlarm.

It was zone alarms that was giving me the BSoD (or at least thats the theory) so i have removed it

heheh
But honestly, I think you don't even need a firewall.
You should remove your graphics card drivers and reinstall them.

BTW if i switched to linux on the laptop would it crash if it was a hardware failiure or does linux just wait for the hardware to respond?
Also it seems the crashes seem to happen when im watching a video or something
or tho nt only just it happens more often
Dont want to speak too soon so im going to give it a week until i can say definitely but it seems to be an issue with the mouse pad drivers
so i have disabled it and the only functionality i have lost is the ability to scroll
After a while of having linux installed the other day i went back to windows 7 and all was well... untill about a min ago when i got a BSoD again
this time i have the raw dump file and was hoping someone could help.
http://www.2shared.com/file/SgffNCGj/121710-25833-01.html
I cant find the XML file but hopefully the dump file has everything needed
Hnnnngg, just got a nother :(
http://www.2shared.com/file/oScPuE5K/122010-33977-01.html
Run memtest for several hours.
http://www.memtest.org/
Ran memtest86+ for 4 hours, and a HDD diagnostics for another hour and no errors.
Going to try run it over night. Its strange because it usually only happens during night time, and it only happens on windows although i have only had windows 7 installed.
I tried installing vista (which is what its built for) but it bluescreens just after loading all the files into memory, (aparently something to do with the installer cd not having the right drivers)
Just wondering but could it be heat related? its the only thing that could be different hardware wise with windows and linux, as on windows its accessing HDD all the time yet linux only accesses the HDD when it needs to.
So was wondering if maybe the heat from the excess HDD usage could do something, as i also have it on all day which would make it heat up easier
I don't think it's heat related.
I don't think it's heat related.
:/ is there anyway to slipstream drivers into a vista installer?
[editline]20th December 2010[/editline]
I cant think its any drivers, i mean it could be but i only have the drivers from the windows 7 updater so i asume its chosen the right ones
