So this is an issue that just surfaced. My DOTA 2 refuses to work properly out of the blue, having worked fine last night. It will open, then immediately close, giving me no chance to even look. I reinstalled the game (after verifying didn't work) and ran in -autoconfig and -safe, which lets me load the main menu - but I can't go back to my normal settings without the game crashing.

Not sure what to do here.
I can put my settings back to normal while still using the -autoconfig and -safe which leads me to believe that maybe my DOTA's settings are naturally causing the game to crash? Any way to set everything back to absolute base?
Update video drivers and verify game data, then if the problem still persists: find a way to run dota 2 and get the output of it.
Dota 2 will probably tell you its problem in its stdout or stderr. In Linux you can read all std output from journalctl, but in Windows I'm not so sure.
