Releasing a survival game as Early access/alpha stage does not work at all.
any kind of bonus functionality by paying additional money, regardless of balance
Having to rely on found equipment when the map isn't very large and there is no item respawn. And there are no "improvised" tools/weapons. This is sometimes an issue in Unturned as you can't make tools and more often than not all the tools are secured by server regulars.
you know fuck it- minecraft gets a lot of flack but I still think it's one of the only survival games that gets the most things "right"

It worked out pretty well for Don't Starve. And I've heard good things about The Long Dark and The Forest. I suppose those are the exceptions to the rule, though.
Pay to win doesn't work
unique items or basically anything where there is only a finite supply of it, and that supply is such that one or two people could easily snap up all of it
Early access. Survival games and early access do not mix what-so-ever.

I only just noticed this was said earlier.
Zombies. Pretty sick of the standard zombie variant.
Environments should throw in more dangers (think Stalker anomalies, carnivorous plants, traps).
Also some way for players to coordinate and team up better. Like your character is part of a faction from the start, and you work towards a higher goal for that faction alongside surviving. Should make it easier to identify friend and foe (even though it doesn't have to be set in stone, it forces people into a role and they usually stick to it). Being able to give your character more of a backstory to begin with is interesting too.

Except for the fact that surviving isn't really challenging. I mean if your only goal is to survive (aka get food) you'll probably never face any danger.
Don't Starve does a much better job imo, you always feel like you're struggling to stay alive. Running out of food, running out of fire, being actively attacked, etc.
I don't like complex health management systems, like having to manage your hunger, thirst, sleep, energy, etc. Just give me a simple health and hunger that is easy to manage, or better yet just health that regenerates when eating food. Apart from that I like limited backpack space that can be expanded with backpacks and progressing through loot. For example I don't like it in a survival game where I can start out with nothing, walk into a building and find a big machine gun with 1000 bullets to go with it. I like going into a building and finding a baseball bat or maybe a small gun, then going into a military base / gun store and finding big guns. It kind of adds a leveling system without levels.

The Forest is going forward slower than snail but i don't blame them, small studio afterall. Now we have this new survival Early access game, Stranded Deep. People will buy it, play it for a couple of hours then ditch it in excuse of waiting for more content to be added.
If you want to release an Early access survival game then release it atleast when it's around 80% finished.
