So I build a PC last November, and I overclocked it in the first week to run at 4.2ghz, I did an intelburn test and it passed, I also ran prime95 but only for about 20 minutes but as my temperatures peaked at 60c I figured it wouldn't go dangerously high no matter how long I left it on. Everything has been running fine up until the last week or so where I started to notice the mouse would lock up for a few seconds before returning to normal, I also noticed that sometimes everything goes laggy for a couple of seconds. At first I thought it might have been a software / driver problem or a virus so I did a fresh install of windows 8. The problem continued So then i started to think it could be a hardware problem, So I updated my BIOS from F9 to F16 (latest stable version) then re-overclocked my machine to 4.2ghz and slightly changed the vcore and cpu voltage.
I ran intelburn on standard and it passed but I got a blue screen very soon into the High stress test. this kind of worries me as the temperatures are not passing 60c so the blue screen cant be to do with overheating. I am currently running prime95 and will be until it has been going 4 hours. Im an hour in and Ive had no errors or problems and my max temp is 65c (still running at 4.2ghz)
Could these little freezes be something to do with a different component such as the ram or GPU? I'm not sure what to think but I'm probably gonna open my pc up after this stress test and make sure all the connections are secure. Any advice would be appreciated.
