EDIT: Cleaning this up!
In the near future..hopefully within a month if my grandma agrees to a deal.
The Deal: I give her this computer and she buys me a new computer or the parts to it. She said $1500 and hopefully she will keep her word because I am really excited to get a new Computer.
-Budget: $1500
-Games that you'll play/Applications you'll use: Steam games / DX10 games
-Native resolution of your monitor: It is at 1280x960 (Samsung Syncmaster 997DF) I've had it longer than my current PC. Might have to get a new monitor too...hmmm.
-Things you can reuse (OS, hard drive, optical drive): Keyboard / Mouse / Monitor
-Extras that you want (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc): Good fans for the case if needed.
-Where you live: United States
Additional Notes: I would prefer Nvidia GPU and an Intel CPU -- And needs to be SLI Ready :D
Also, I expect to get Win7.
While I cannot help you with this
let me say, from FP's experience, you're going to be getting a beast of a PC.

Haha. I hope so! :D
Might be a good idea to wait until ATI's new cards come out.

You were right the first time, the next series of ATI cards come out this month.

Or wait for both, Compare preformance benchmarks and look for the price preformance ratio..
TBH, I do not understand why everyone is hyped about ATI series 5XXX\Nvidia series Gtx 3XX
If the highest end cards of now can already do it all.... What can these cards do?
Why buy the best if nothing uses it all?
[sp]Unless you want to brag to your friends that your computer floats[/sp]

He meant that I prefer Nvidia.
I don't want the latest. I just want enough to run DX10 games.
I can care less for having Quad-SLI or whatever or the latest video card.
Not like every single company is going to jump to make their games so realistic that it needs such high costly Graphics cards.
AMD and ATI are perfectly fine. Are you in Canada or US?
US.
I never said they were bad. I just prefer Intel and Nvidia.
well with the 5870 being around 300 and toppling Nvidia's 295 I would get everything but a graphics card
I'll cook something up

Nice stuff John.
Can anyone give me a Nvidia alternative?
Not one that would be comparable in performance.
While it may be expensive, getting the newer cards would last you a lot longer. Hell in a few years I'll need to upgrade my 4670, get the new card and you might not need to for awhile.
Although I can understand your brand loyalty (knowing that they worked before) being a fanboy won't get you anywhere, i.e intel E8400 costs the same as a Phenom II 945, but the PII runs circles around it, and you get a quad (not that quad= instantly good, but if you're doing stuff where the extra cores help). As people have said before the 5870 will perform equally to the 295 for almost half the price.

Nice build there.... but I would invest in a i7 920..... even if it costs some more its worth it
@OP: wait for the ati 5870.... it's really worth.. it will be more run in circles around all of the nVidia cards
BUT REMEMBER: If you really want to spend more and get less, get a nVidia GTX295
I guess I should wait and see how FP thinks about it then and not now.
Because FP is always right. :D

The i5 750 is on par with the i7 920.

So very little? Just cheaper?
Yes, enough so that it's worth the purchase.
Wait until the 22nd when the new ATI cards come out, then just get everything else John posted.

Wow gave you a box because that i5 is better then i7 920.
Might have to get a new monitor too...hmm
If you have any extra cash, this is probably the best deal for a monitor of this size:

Thanks Jubei!
I recomend the build John posted.
Also, just beacuse Nvidia is more expensive, does not mean it is better: recently, ATI has been taking thier highspot, and the new ATI cards will definitly seal that.
Until Nvidia come out with their DX11 cards and rebrands.
-snip- fo stupidness
