Looking for the best brand/manufacturer for this card as well as the best price for an Nvidia GTX 460. Where's the best place to get the Nvidia GTX 460 from and if I should go for the 1GB model or the lower spec 768mb model? Has anyone got any thoughts on the GTX 460 compared to the other cards on the market as it seems an excellent one for the price and it seems to have great performance compared to what Nvidia were doing before.

And I don't think its poorly priced.
However you will want the 1G version if your monitor has a resolution greater than 1680x1050
Edit:
Best 460 out there
And if I have a monitor that has a resoloution of 1680 x 1050 as the max would you still recommend the 1GB version
1GB costs just 20 €/$ more, so it's okay
If I had to choose between a 768MB 'Gigabyte' 460 and a 1GB 'Palit' 460, which should I go for? I'd like the extra memory, but I've never heard of Palit.

1GB Palit all the way.

Why exactly?
According to the benchmarks i watched today the MSI Cyclone GTX460 OC is your best bet, the fan on it does ~38db and the card itself never exeeds the 70c under full load.

O.k sounds great, but where would I be able to purchase this?
I'm looking for the exact same as the OP.
Ebuyer, Scan, Aria and Novatech are few good ones (best first, in my opinion). Stay away from Overclockers.co.uk.

Why would you stay away from oveclockers?

Besides the fact they charge a huge premium on pretty much everything and have absolutely terribile support, plus a huge cost for shipping?
I dunno.

Problem I had a while back was it took a month for them to get the stuff to me, so yeah I'll be avoiding them

I've bought the 1GB Palit GTX460 :)
I like scan the most, not sure why... eBuyer and Scan are the two big ones. Novatech are really good but i would only go there if i wanted a cheap mobo/cpu combo. Aria is really good, low low prices on somethings
I like Ebuyer as it has the best shipping fees.
