The game is very Freelancer-esque, but the entire galaxy, to my knowledge, is seamless. You use the gates because they're faster, not because each sector is its own separate map you load into
this game seems to gotten alot of positive reviews... people who played the previous says it is really good and a step up to the right direction... one of the person think it's way better then X: Rebirth.
X-Rebirth is terrible. I'm a huge X series fan and it's not even close. Albion Prelude, even though it's cumbersome and a bit sloppy, is miles ahead. SG2 will probably remind everyone of Freelancer right off the bat, and Freelancer is a terrific game
The game releases at the end of this month, after a year of Early Access. The current version is 0.800.
The devs are active, seem entheusiastic, and are open to feedback. They release frequent updates and are already planning an expansion pack for the game after release. The community seems open and friendly, answering questions together with the developers.
All in all, it really seems to be worth the purchase if you like open world space games.
