• Android phone becomes unbearably slow
    18 replies, posted
Hey guys, got an HTC Desire HD on Orange Contract, had it for about 9 months now and sometimes the phone will get up to 95%-100% cpu usage on OS monitor which makes it slow, texting becomes unresponsive, if I'm texting it will stop popping up with predictive and if I carry on typing it will stop bringing the letters up and eventually the text starts appearing and the letters pop up. It's on Android Version 2.3.3 and HTC Sense Version 2.1. These aren't the most uptodate but thats due to the fact that they haven't released the update on Orange yet, some people have said to root the phone and install fresh software on it unrooted to Orange. Any tips or advice would be appreciated
Does this only happen when you are texting? Try deleting your conversations, uninstall apps that you don't use/need, remove widgets that you don't use/need and root your phone so you could use apps like SetCPU or remove bloatware that came with your phone.
Happens to everything on the phone, is it easy to root it?
You could check your temps, and yes it's easy to root. I'd install a custom rom, see if that does anything.
I would install a custom ROM in your place. I'm almost certain your phone will work as good as new, IF NOT better.
29 degrees celsius apparantly atm. And pros and cons of rooting? [editline]5th February 2012[/editline] Is this the best site to use?

Cheers bud and easy process?
Rooting itself is easier for some phones than others, some HTC phones have a 1 click tool, I believe the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II can be rooted by flashing a small file with ODIN
On the Galaxy S, all you do is put a zip on the SD card, and install it through regular recovery.
Anyone done this with an HTC Desire HD?
Anyone done this with an HTC Desire HD?
E1025 has done it looks gorgeous.
Been searching around is it literally as easy as this: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
Just use the attn1 Ace Hack Kit, read the manual thoroughly, and don't update to the latest version as it will have to wipe your data in order to get to the proper version to achieve S-OFF. If you want something closer to the latest stock ROM for the international phone, I recommend Android Revolution HD 6.3.2 or LeeDroid 5.1.1.
So I wasn't supposed to flash a custom recovery if I could access the normal one? Damn it
Custom recoveries are preferable. It has many features that make it a lot less likely to brick and makes upgrading a lot easier.
I rooted my phone with Z4Root, easy as hell.
I rooted my phone with Z4Root, easy as hell.
You didn't specify what phone?
Oh yeah, It is a Huawei U8500, a really low-end Android phone.
