This is a problem i have since a long time now whenever i play a big game with high graphics,a whistling noise start coming out of my computer and it only stops when i either stop the game or minimize it after maybe 5-10 minutes, graphics start glitching up,and if i don't stop or minimize,it's CTD 6 bit Windows time then, the only way to fix it is to reboot my graphic card don't overheat, nor my power supply or anything else i did some research and contrarily to what i thought was obvious,it is not the graphic card that is the problem, but RAM the thing is,i got 4g! i got enough for anything i play right now,yet i either have to reduce my graphics to minimum to play,or take a break every 5 minutes i tried closing every unneeded programs running, updating my drivers and nothing worked so far and the weirdest thing (to me anyway) is that some games that were fucking up just stopped fucking up,even with maximum graphics so,what the fuck is wrong with my computer? i'll update this thread with a picture of what happens when it fucks up and here's some of my specs: Windows XP SP3 4g of RAM Intell Quad Core Nvidia Geforce GTX 280
Perhaps your gpu is overheating. What are your temps on idle and under full load? You can check with speefan or speccy.
50C at normal,71C when under full load i guess it overheats even when it's idling
Thats not hot. What "research" you did showed your ram to be faulty and not your gpu?
Thats not hot. What "research" you did showed your ram to be faulty and not your gpu?
well, numerous forum posts and the guy that made my computer..... so far,i haven't got a clear answer and i just keep wondering what to do to fix this fucking problem
I think that noise is the capacitors squealing on your graphics card. AFAIK it is normal.
I think that noise is the capacitors squealing on your graphics card. AFAIK it is normal.
Actually, I'm pretty sure near silence is normal. Unless of course, they're squealing in delight because of the game he's playing. edit: Also, he said that the graphics start glitching.
so,any help?

How powerful is your PSU?
How powerful is your PSU?
that,i don't know hell,what's a PSU?
Power Supply Unit. If you don't know the wattage of your PSU, you can open your PC case and look at the label on the side of the PSU.
850w
that should be enough but you must stopp idling because it wil ruin your pc. and if you still want to idl: lowest graphics no fullscreen
well,that's what i do,and honestly,it sucks
