• High CPU usage while playing games
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU E4600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs) 4096MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
I recently installed the new display driver first from Windows Update, starting having extremely low FPS in games, and although some games are playable TF2 is not. I've noticed that while playing TF2 my CPU usage goes up to 90% and about 70% in L4D2. Anyways in TF2 it says my FPS is around 40-60, however, it looks like 10. It says the same for L4D2, but it actually is playable and the FPS is about what it says. Last thing to note is that I only have this issue when playing in games with other players. In TF2 I get about 150 FPS in games without any other players in it. I've already tried:

Uninstalling/reinstalling drivers
Using GameBooster
Cleaning out computer files
Taking apart the computer and cleaning dust, and the graphics card
Try reinstalling your processing supply unit. Looks like your probably running a xe93 right? (User was banned for this post ("Idiot" - birkett))
Try reinstalling your processing supply unit. Looks like your probably running a xe93 right?
What now? And how?
Get the latest drivers at www.nvidia.com It's normal to have high CPU usage during gaming, as the game is using the CPU to process. Hell I'd prefer games to run with 100% CPU usage.

This thread is filled with idiots. OP, your CPU is outdated, why are you even surprised that games run at at high load rate on that old CPU?
Have you done the obvious and tried turning down some of the visual settings?
Games are supposed to take up 99% CPU time, it's the way they were designed. It doesn't matter if you have an i7, the game in question is going to max out at least one of the cores.
Do you by chance have multi core render checked in the options?
-snip-
I've used almost all sets of settings. Multicore, no MC, low settings, high settings, DX8, etc. Thing is my games have always run fine up until recently.

I installed the beta drivers for the 9800GT and now my FPS is really good... it still runs like crap though. I'm getting 60-120 FPS but still it runs like it's on 10. Only in TF2.
OP, you should go take a look at steam forums, if it happens to other people too maybe someone has found a fix already.
I've googled it to death, couldn't really find anything helpful. Just found a couple of people with somewhat similiar problems. I'm going to try defragging tonight and cleaning the Windows Registry, as that is what it said on the Steam Forums.
The troll was funny. XE93 http://www.tsikot.biz/toyota-corolla-xe-93-2/ First was Swahili Second was Hebrew. [editline]03:55AM[/editline] Translated.
"You fucking Hittite"
[editline]03:57AM[/editline] Also your laptop is probably running under power-saver setting you want to put it at performance.
It's a desktop
power options high performance mode, desktop and laptops both are set to low/balanced by default

Core 2 Duo That isn't outdated. (Not completely anyway). This guy has the original Core Duo, which is VERY outdated.
This thread is filled with idiots.
funny because you're in the thread too.
Core 2 Duo That isn't outdated. (Not completely anyway). This guy has the original Core Duo, which is VERY outdated.
ah that explains
my old core2duo 1.8ghz ran TF2 fine, no 90% load when playing
There are significant differences between the performance of Core 2 Duo and Core Duo [editline]05:25PM[/editline]
funny because you're in the thread too.
Go back to Fast Anime
So should I just get a new comp? I built this one a LOOONG time ago.
Yes. It's pretty pointless to upgrade
Core 2 Duo That isn't outdated. (Not completely anyway). This guy has the original Core Duo, which is VERY outdated.
The E4600 is actually a core 2, it was just a mistake in the OP.
OP try reformatting first.
