Can I do anything with a pretty broken android tablet?

We bought the Zeepad 7.0 online a few weeks ago and when we got it the screen was cracked, we obviously got our money back, but decided to keep the device since it wasn't worth the money to send it back.
The screen is about half dead and the touch sensor is totally gone. It doesn't work well with mice (It detects the mouse, I can move the pointer, but clicking produces a 1 millisecond touch so I can't actually interact with anything) but I can use a keyboard with it just fine. So here's my question: what (if anything) can I actually do with this? I was hoping to get an ARM linux distro on there if possible, and have it as a tiny media server hosting everything over wifi (I'd remove the screen and battery pack) and controlling it with ssh. But (and a big but), I can only control it using a usb keyboard, meaning I can't actually interact with it while it's plugged into my computer.
Is there anything I can do to, say, get it to boot of the sd card or put something on it using usb debugging? Or am I shit out of luck?
set it on fire and record it live

Haven't used it, though I've heard good things about it.
Install Gentoo and seed linux distros.

I would love to, the only problem is HOW? I have no idea how to even start going about this, considering the only viable method of input is a keyboard (that I can't use while it's plugged in).
If you could direct me to some guide or something, I'd appreciate it.
