I dont think a WoW film would work, the lore is too much of a cluster fuck and not easy to explain to someone looking in from the outside. A film based upon the original Warcraft series would be nice.
I don't know why they don't just make an animated movie rather than live action.
So he turned down Blizzards story and wrote his own, and was surprised when they didn't like it?
I don't know what kind of story a movie could tell. It's hard to put a game like Warcraft into a 2 hour long cinematic. The real question is, what is there to tell? We've all played it in Warcraft 1-3, and they've had more than their share of milking the crap out of WoW. What is left? Unless it's a prequel or perhaps a tie-in that takes place during one of the games, or maybe even one of the games made into one large cinematic, I just don't know what else could be done. As far as I am aware, they ruined everything in WoW, so it couldn't possibly tie in to that.
Correct me if I'm wrong of course, but I just don't see this working out very well. Although yes, I would LOVE to see Blizzard do their famous CG for a movie.

Woah they forgot a space.
Big fucking deal.
Would be fun as a trilogy movie I guess, starting from WC1, WC2 and probably fill up the gaps between in some places.

They should use what they make their cut scenes and cinematics with.

And the annoying thing is that's the bit I copied from the Vulture interview. Shows I need a tea, methinks.
If Duncan Jones is behind it then there is hope.

That's what I don't get, they clearly have the ability to produce these incredibly impressive CGI things but they just don't seem to bother using them half the time.
They said the movie story will be before WoW but after Warcraft 3 and will focus on the Alliance.
I would recommend the new director of asking blizzard to give him the copy of the games so that he can play those games when he is off work, so he could play these games and understand the lore and story of the game to gain further knowledge and how to put them in the big screen and not be in a huge clusterfuck.

I think I heared him say he was a WoW fan somewhere, it might not be needed.
I don't blame Blizzard for kicking him off and turning down his script.
We all know what happens when you let a studio use your video game as a movie, the basic premise seems to be "make a video game movie, but contain absolutely NOTHING of what made the game fun in the first place".
Examples being the Super Mario Movie(which went through tons of script changes)and the Resident Evil movies.
