Looking deeper, according to [url=http://www.businessinsider.com/us-smartphone-market-2012-9]Business Insider[/url] between 114 (low end) and 165 (high end) million smartphones are active in the US alone. Assuming that there are multiple activations per person over the years (contracts expire, phones are lost/stolen/broken, etc) I'm going to favour the lower number of 114 million. Likewise, [url=http://techcrunch.com/2012/12/17/smartphone-penetration-in-europes-big-5-markets-now-at-55-apple-continues-to-feel-the-heat-from-fast-rising-samsung/]Techcrunch[/url] reports 131.5 million smartphone users in Western Europe (at this point I just realized both my numers come from ComScore, how convenient). So unless this very western-centric company has a massive userbase in Africa, India and China: They claim to have every smartphone user using their app.
