• UK £1500 Gaming & Rendering Build

I've got a lot of spare money from my savings and my current computer (A 2007 Multimedia Laptop) is getting outdated so I'd like your help to get me a nice build that I can use because I've got very little idea where to start when picking parts.:suicide: The budget is £1500 but I can put an extra £200 into this build if it is worth it. I'll be using the computer for Gaming and Editing/Rending video. Games I'll be playing will include Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and ArmA 2+3 and Take on Helicopters. The Case: I am not too fussed with a fancy looking case, as long as the case will be able to hold everything together and doesn't cost stupid amounts. Power Supply: I've got very little idea what to choose with this. Motherboard and Processor: These are where I'm having the most difficulty choosing and I have little idea where to start choosing. The most I really know is that it needs a PCI-E slot for the graphics card and most SSD's are faster than SATA II can allow. I remember reading that for most games, an I5 will be just as good as an I7 because they don't use all the features of I7s. Hard Drives: I'd like to be able to separate videos and games onto two separate drives for convenience. Possibly an SSD for Windows and 2, 2TB hard drives for games and videos. Graphics Cards: I have a fondness for Nvidia over AMD but I am not too fussed. I'd like to avoid using multiple cards in SLI/Crossfire because I don't know how to use it. Monitor: I'd prefer a monitor that is 16:10, 1920x1200 Extras: Other things that I would like include a Joystick that I can use in ArmA/Take on Helicopters
You can take a look at what I just bought, it's about your price range. It should be coming in the mail tomorrow or thursday, and it will be kickass! MSI GeForce GTX570 Twin Frozor III MSI P67A-G45 Corsair/Kingston HyperX 4 GB DDR3 1600Mhz Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB, 7200rpm NZXT Phantom White Intel i5 2500K Ignore the NZXT case since you don't want an expensive one, I just think it looks amazing.

OP: Choice of case (ATX or MATX) Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z i7-2600k Any MSI/EVGA/Sapphire 6970 or 570, depending on preference Kingston HyperX Grey 8GB 1600 Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (x2?) Vertex 3 120GB Noctua NH-D14, Be Quiet! Dark Rock PRO or Antec Kuhler 920. (Depends on case) Seasonic Gold X-860W Just spouting that out the top of my head, I would imagine that's under £1300. Anything more is pretty much overkill. That leaves space for monitor and peripherals. I got that without the SSD (Different motherboard, ~same price) for £1150. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] also awesome, an OP who actually gives details in the OP.

He lives in the US. ( According to FP atleast ) Not in Denmark nor England. Go for an i7 2600k, Gigabyte / ASUS mobo with Z68, Corsair 120 GB SSD ( the red one ), 1 tb F3, a 580 / 570, a corsair 1000 watt PSU ( Yes keep whining, it's overkill, but you are going to need that some day. You spend like £20 more now, save £100 later when you SLI or get a better GPU. ) And a CM 690 II. [QUOTE=Oblivion470;32144103]You can take a look at what I just bought, it's about your price range. Not sure about denmark, but thats about what you get for that amount of money here in sweden.

The hardware he mentioned is not that expensive, should not hit 4 digits in any EU country, if it did I'd get a train and buy it elsewhere. Free trade in europe ya know ;)
