Specs upfront:
MOBO: Asrock M3A UCC - Link
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 II 955
GPU: AMD HD 6850
RAM: 4GB DDR3
PSU: Akasa 600w
OK, so parts came for it last week and we built it. Plugged in the HDMI cable to the graphics card and after the POST screen we got an error about the CPU being too powerful for the motherboard, the PC would then shutdown. After a quick search it was because the motherboard was incompatible with the high CPU power requirements and so we sent that back and ordered a new one (Basic mistake, but it claimed to support our specific CPU so we didn't check up on supported wattage) Anyway, new motherboard arrived today and we've reconstructed the PC with a supported motherboard, however it now won't POST and has no beeps what-so-ever. All the Fans spin, and i'm pretty sure we've wired it up correctly.
I've built PC's in the past, and expected to hear some kind of beep code. However, we've unplugged the RAM and received no beep code. We also unplugged the GPU aswell, and also heard no beep code. The case we have lacks a built in speaker, so I am wondering if the motherboard doesn't have a built in speaker which is why we can't hear it.
I'm really stuck here, and have no idea on where to go, so any suggestions would be massively appreciated.
I would say check the basics first; 24 and 8 pin power, standoffs etc.
If your motherboard doesn't have a speaker, then you can get one for like $2.
No beeps usually mean a motherboard or PSU issue; I'm guessing it's the motherboard.
Motherboard or CPU issue, from what I know. I find it unlikely that it's the PSU (even though it may not be the most reliable), as it worked one week before that, and it isn't like you kill one with an accidental static discharge.
And many motherboards lack a speaker.
(Somewhat obvious)
Did you have it connected to a screen?
