Went to boarding school for 10 months and when I came back and turned on my desktop my power supply ate it and took my mobo with it. Co-opted a mini PC and stuck its mobo in my case with a spare power supply and my GPU. It works great except the wifi is extremely dodgy. While my laptop will get full bars and download at upwards of 2.5MB/s, I often get upwards of 2000ms delays when test pinging google on the desktop. Then it just drops out altogether after about 15 minutes and won't connect until I reboot. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and wifi card, looked at forums, but I can't get any real answers. Figured I'd ask you guys since you people can talk with your heads out of your asses.
Full specs are:
Silverstone TJ-08-e case
ZOTAC H67-ITX-C-E mobo
Intel i3-2100
ZOTAC GTX 560 448-core edition
4GB G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1333mhz
Cougar 760w PSU
Dell U2410m
Older Dell 24" monitor
I'm probably going to pick up a USB replacement adapter tomorrow and order a mini PCIe one later. Any suggestions for the mini PCIe one if I can't fix this one?
What is the signal strength on your computer?
Also, did you put BOTH antenna's on the rear,
and are no cables of the WLAN adapter system properly attached or
damaged / broken?
This may be a bad case of signal loss.
Do keep in mind, you need U.FL adapter / antenna if you get a Mini PCIe card.
Just bought a Intel Extreme 6300 for my HTPC (when I bought it). Sadly I don't have a antenna and have a problem finding one. Think I'm gonna try pulling one out of a extra laptop tommorow.

I was using two big fuckoff antennae from my previous desktop. First thing I did was reseat the wifi card and double check the internal cables. I picked up a $20 USB wifi adapter with two tiny non-upgradable antennae and now it gets full bars and downloads average the same as my laptop: 2.4MB/sec. So now this thread is about suggestions for a new wifi card. Apparently the card on the ZOTAC board is known to be problematic. I need the USB adapter for my repair work and I prefer an internal card anyway.

Go for a Intel card BUT double check reviews for your OS since a few of them are troublemakers. Or just the exact same card model in your laptop
