• Need a PC, But Don't Know Exactly What To Get; Advice Appreciated

Hi guys. I've had a crappy old dell for 3 years and it's time that I got a new gaming computer. My budget is around $1,150 I want to buy a pre-built gaming computer, but I'm not sure exactly what to get. I have a few options that I'm looking at. Please do not tell me to build my own. Building my own PC is just too much of a hassle for me at the moment, I don't want to have compatibility problems or short circuit anything, so I've decided that a pre-built is what I want. Where I've Been Looking- Newegg - Seems like they have a few decent computers. Tigerdirect - Another good selection CyberPower - I'm worried about this one. They seem to have the best prices here, but what I've heard is that they have absolutely horrid quality and often computers will arrive DOA. Ibuypower - Same deal with CyberPower What I've Been Looking At Gateway FX6801-03 Gaming Desktop PC- http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4831059&csid=ITD&body=MAIN Gamer Xtreme XT- http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_XT/ (Only with the GTX 260 instead) Systemax X58 Performance Gamer PC- http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5020364&Sku=SYX-1020 Which of these are the best? If there are better ones around for my price range, if you could post them, that would be great. EDIT: Ah fuck. Meant to put this in the PC Building section. If a mod could move this for me, that would be great.
Seriously dude BUILD YOUR OWN
Seriously dude BUILD YOUR OWN
I would, but I don't have any free time, I don't want to fuck it up, and I don't want to order the wrong parts.
I would, but I don't have any free time, I don't want to fuck it up, and I don't want to order the wrong parts.
We'll help you select the right parts, that's what we're here for! Get a friend to help you build, and as long as they know what they're doing, it really doesn't take long. I can generally do a machine from scratch in about 30 minutes to from components to build: even if it takes your four times that, it's still really not that long! Think of the long-term benefits in the form of better components and how much you'll be glad you self-built when you're flying along in Crysis. :) Edit: I'll price a build up for that budget now.
It takes 30 mins to build it yourself. You won't fuck it up that's nearly impossible, and you won't order the wrong parts because we can make a build for you.
Hmm.. Maybe I will then. I did a build once in the past with a bunch of help, and I can do most parts, but the bit that confuses me is connecting the power buttons and the hard drive/cd drive to the motherboard.

I guess I should pre-build. What do you think the best I can get for around $1,100 dollars is? (Including shipping) I'd like to keep with an Intel CPU, but I'm willing to do AMD as well. As for an OS, I'd prefer Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I'm not familiar with US builds so someone can probably beat my build, but there's an example of a nice rig you can get for that kind of money. Edit: If you need to chop some of that cost down go for an Antec 300 over the Antec 900. Edit2: OS wise, get the Windows 7 student offer.

They're getting kinda behind now.

Thank you for all the responses. I was just wondering - What is the difference between the core i5's and the core i7's?
i7 has hyperthreading, i5 doesn't. You won't notice any difference in games.
Thank you for all the responses. I was just wondering - What is the difference between the core i5's and the core i7's?
i7 has hyperthreading and triple-channel memory. i7 is aimed at the enthusiast market, i5 is aimed at mainstream.
Hmm, so would this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4831059&csid=ITD&body=MAIN perform better than this? or vice-versa?
Well, the rig I specced up has two GTX260s in as opposed to just one. Not really sure, but I'd guess the one I specced would do better in games with SLi enabled.
less powerful gpus go with my build and save some cash

Guys... I'm pretty sure this guy doesn't have an OS. Include that in your builds pl0x Also... Sli-ing 260s that cost more than 200 each? srsly? You're better off Crossfiring 2 4890s that can be found for under 190.

We tend to get ripped off a lot, but some parts are better than others in terms of what they cost compared to their price across the pond.
look for combo deal

On a scale from 1 to 5, that Power supply is rated as a 5 (cit http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx) from what I have heard from friends, their cases are hard to work with. Also its hard to find a 5850 avaliable, so right now, you either have to camp Newegg, or wait until the demand dies out.
