I recently built my first computer and when I turn it on, it attempts to run Win7 but crashes then restarts and then goes to startup repair, but this can't find a soloution and now I don't know what to try, I think it's because I hit the MemOK! switch by accident? Any ideas?
it's a bsod crash right?
Nope, just restarts. I've never run the computer before, i think it's getting the OS from the HDD which my friends gave me.
It's definitely not overheating, because it turns back on then goes to a start up repair and says that there's been a hardware or software change but startup repair is having no effect.
so you've litterately copied the partition or windows installation of your friend right? without installing on your own system. if so, your hardware isn't compatible with the installed drivers. your best bet would be to freshly install windows.
I thought that but i don't know how because it won't run anything, I have a copy of windows 7 on disc but nothing happens if i put it in the disc drive.
i'll try it now [editline]14th December 2010[/editline] "Installing Windows..." Thanks dude, if any other problems arise i'll come back to the thread.
