Sup. This is just a list I've compiled because I enjoy laughing at people who spend un-necessary amounts on shit they could have for way cheaper. Feel free to add some of your own. Prices are in UK pounds sterling because I can't be arsed converting to that strange currency you call dollars. All results found on google shopping. Okay, maybe it's 42'' but really? £6000? Why not just have 2 monitors? £165,000 for a HDMI cable. I hope to God this one is just an unfortunate typo. Look, it even says you save £34,3999 off the recommended price. £4,000 for a diamond plated iPhone. Real diamonds? I hope so, for £4,000. This is not so much on the list because of the pricing, rather because I can see no reason why you would have a diamond iPhone, and even so, I have no idea why you would dare to take such a thing outside. I'll find some more later and add any that you come up with when I can be arsed doing it.
The mouse is a 50 pack.
The mouse is a 50 pack.
Fuck, so it is.
The display looks old, and probably when LCDs were new or something. There are lots of overpriced HDMI cables like that - not quite that much, though. The iPhone's fine.

Macs.
$2200 HDMI cable AudioQuest - Coffee 39.4' HDMI Cable - White The reviews are jokes and some of them are funny.
[editline]edit[/editline] These kind of expensive products are simply there to scam the idiots who believes everything that they read, and that the more expensive an item is, the better it is in general.
Why is it all of the related cables on the HDMI link in the OP are the same (sky high) price? Something makes me wanna say it's a fuckup... Especially considering the one in the link is only 3m long.

It's £165,000 for an HDMI cable. I think it's safe to say that it's a typo and not intentional price gouging.
Many 'Audiophile' websites have ridiculous high prices. Wonder if the Core 2 Extremes are still stupidly priced.
These kind of expensive products are simply there to scam the idiots who believes everything that they read, and that the more expensive an item is, the better it is in general.
If it isn't a serious typo, then I'd get that (although they must be going after real fucking idiots with money to burn). However all of the related cables, same manufacturer, but different lengths, are the same price. Not around the same price, the exact same. Down to the cent.
It's £165,000 for an HDMI cable. I think it's safe to say that it's a typo and not intentional price gouging.
I'm with this. Especially considering... $6500 per monitor [editline]wefe[/editline] 42'' diagonal, 2880x900 resolution. I would get one if it was like $500

Actually, if you stand in front of it it looks fine [editline]20th January 2011[/editline] unless you mean something else?
Course it's fucking £6000, it's a professional 42" HD editing monitor, a fucking bravia won't work in these places.
I can't tell if you're being serious or not [editline]20th January 2011[/editline] But really, what's so special about it?

Your question is the same as "Why should I buy an IPS monitor if regular ones are much cheaper". Or [img_thumb]http://images.nvidia.com/products/quadro-6000/Quadro-6000-low-3qtr.png[/img_thumb]
I understand the superiority of the Quadro card, but what's so special about IPS panels?
Oh wow: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834150169
apparently toughbooks can take a direct hit from a bullet and still work fine
I understand the superiority of the Quadro card, but what's so special about IPS panels?
"Initial iterations of IPS technology were plagued with slow response time and a low contrast ratio but later evolutions have made marked improvements to these shortcomings. Because of its wide viewing angle and accurate color reproduction (with almost no off-angle color shift), IPS is widely employed in high-end monitors aimed at professional graphic artists, although with the recent fall in price it has been seen in the mainstream market as well." -Wikipedia
Oh wow: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834150169
Ummm... Panasonic Toughbooks are worth their weight in gold. They're a niche product and not overpriced for what they're capable of.

They are dedicated for video proofing and generally used before work in outputted back to film. A £6000 studio display is cheaper than printing to film and realizing you goofed a bit up.
And what is that?
Law enforcement/Armed forces personnel, on site engineers and construction overseers etc. Those things can be dropped off a 10-story building, or take a bullet and still work.
Law enforcement/Armed forces personnel, on site engineers and construction overseers etc. Those things can be dropped off a 10-story building, or take a bullet and still work.
This. Also, extreme temperatures. The company I work for uses them in subzero temperatures in Russia in the field and they're the only laptop that will efficiently work in that type of cold.
Law enforcement/Armed forces personnel, on site engineers and construction overseers etc. Those things can be dropped off a 10-story building, or take a bullet and still work.
I'd love to be so non chalant about dropping a laptop off a 10 story building.
I can't find it on Youtube, but The Gadget Show tested a toughbook to destruction in one of their early episodes, the motherfucker survived a fucking depthcharge along with a boatload of other stuff (but sadly when faced with a HE bomb didn't survive). There's clips of them going at it with a flamethrower on their live shows, but the first one was much more impressive.
This. Also, extreme temperatures. The company I work for uses them in subzero temperatures in Russia in the field and they're the only laptop that will efficiently work in that type of cold.
Not to mention it has "manly" written all over it
