Well I'm so glad that the Ace Attorney games continued otherwise my life would be all for naught.
If you play the game this really shows. Most questions were wrapped up in the 3rd game, and with AJ they struggled to add onto the already developed plot and made Wright a bum

That was one of the decisions they made that I just couldn't believe would happen to Phoenix, for him to just give up like that denies his very character.

The special jury trial, Apollo, etc. [/sp] It was a pretty huge change in character though.
In that interview Takumi actually says he didn't want Wright to be in the fourth game at all. He wanted to start fresh, but Capcom pressured him into keeping Phoenix. He still tried to do something new and different with the intention of Apollo being the new series lead, but both Capcom and the fanbase just wanted more of the same instead of actually new ideas in what would otherwise be a finished series. Figures that as soon as the series left his control for the fifth game that Phoenix was catapulted back into the spotlight and the fourth game's ending was practically ignored. I wish Takumi was left alone to be free to do new things. Ghost Trick was incredible, in my opinion, and also very self-contained; the story left no loose ends. There is no chance for a sequel unless they start fresh, and I think that was on purpose. Takumi's situation is very similar to Kojima's; Kojima outright said that he's basically being forced to make new Metal Gear Solid games even though he wanted the series to die a long time ago.
That's what happens once you make a series and it brings money, even if you want to wrap it up, you'll never be able to. Kind of a shame, really.

Phoenix always seemed to me like a kinda awkward and anxious guy with a big heart, but then suddenly in AJ, he turned into this completely relaxed and uncharacteristically intelligent person who apparently took lessons in scheming from Frank Underwood. It came out of nowhere and now the inferior Apollo has basically adopted Phoenix's original traits.
Yeah. Phoenix was just an average guy who didn't have much luck of his own. Towards the ends of his cases, he would kind of figure things out on his own, but for the most of the trilogy he has to rely on other people to help him, like Maya always summoning Mia into her body to help him figure out what to do, or Pearl doing the same. It could kind of be seen in AJ that it was forced, but at least he wrote that one, right? He has nothing to do with DD, as you can see from PW not being the same.
Apollo Justice was a "fuck you" to everyone who forced him into keep phoenix shaped out of the already existing bits of story. I loved how transparent it was. Probably my favorite Attorney game.
well i'm not going to complain if they make another investigations game (and maybe localize it this time)

Hmm A lot of fans will tell you the original trilogy is the best but despite the new ones not being as good, people still want new games. Honestly DD I would rate being one of the weaker ones in the series, it only redeems itself with the DLC case. I wouldn't mind if he just did new games, Ghost Trick was great so it's not like he's a one hit wonder with the AA series.
