• Yet another display/gpu issue

I'm so goddamn tired of this shitty build never working correctly. I've had several, and I mean SEVERAL issues with it, and I'm sick and tired of it. So much money has been drained into this thing. If I can't fix it without spending another hundred on another XYZ then I'm selling the parts I can individually and giving up. Parts: M5 A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard 4GB SPORT DDR3-1600 (1) and unidentifiable ram(2) (setup has been verified to work in the past and hasn't changed) MSI N730-4GD3V2 GPU AMD FX 4300 (with stock cooler) Sentey Stealth Case EVGA 430W PSU Unidentifiable HDD and Optical Drive I recently replaced the GPU under warranty from MSI. The symptoms before was simply nothing getting power. The light on the case would flash for 1/5 of a second and stop. Nothing would happen after. Now, the lights turn on, the fans on the case, the CPU fan, and the HDD would spin. The GPU did nothing. I have 2 connections to the GPU: The VGA cable and an HDMI cable. No signal from either. I tried clearing CMOS and hitting F8 upon starting. No effect. I do have a spare CPU, PSU, and Motherboard that has a GPU slot that has integrated graphics on it that MIGHT work should I need them. The Optical Drive doesn't seem to do anything when I hit the eject button if that gives any clue. The fan on the GPU does not spin. Anything else I could certainly find out Thanks for the help in the past, and I doubt that you guys can help here, but me and my father didn't spend the time, energy, and money for this thing to not work. I'm just sick of this.
Sounds like a bad power supply to me. I certainly would not spend more money on it unless you have a good reason to, as far as performance goes it's all obsolete.
It's not the psu. It can't be.
It's not the psu. It can't be.
The disk drive not opening can only mean PSU, there is absolutely nothing else that can cause that.
The disk drive not opening can only mean PSU, there is absolutely nothing else that can cause that.
I mean the disk drive could be broken ya know.
I will try using the spare psu that I mentioned in the op and see if anything changes
I mean the disk drive could be broken ya know.
Perhaps, but it' very rare in my experience for one to fail completely, all the other symptoms suggest the PSU as well.
No change. Not even the optical drive opens. Everything is the same.
I would try remove as much as possible and see if you can get output from the GPU, having a new GPU dead is quite unlikely, do you get any HDD access after you turn it on or does it just sit there doing nothing ?, see if it tries to boot without the GPU. Failure to POST is most commonly caused by a power issue but it could also be due to a problem with the mobo or in rare cases the CPU, since you've replaced the PSU I would suspect the mobo of being your problem, make sure all the mobo power cables are in especially the 4/8 pin 12V connector.
Today I have finally repaired the piece of shit Turns out it was 100% the motherboard. I replaced it under warranty and here I am using it as I type this out This is very late, but if someone else gets this problem they know what it could be. EDIT: oh and the optical drive still doesn't open
