Hi,
I've recently discovered my love for Macbook Pros. Now I'm not a big apple fan at all, I think they sell overpriced crap in shiny cases to wannabe artists but the Macbook Pro... it's so beautiful. It's just so sexy, I really want one. It's £900 for:
2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo Processor
4GB DD3 RAM
500GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics
Now I could probably get the same specs in a normal laptop for around £400, but these Macbook Pros are so sexy. Is there anything good about them apart from their looks? And would it be worth it if I got a 2nd hand (unopened, as new) Macbook Pro with the above specs for £550?
Also, is there any way I can have the Macbook Pro unibody case and screen with a normal laptop inside it? Like do people sell Macbook Pro shells in which I could put a normal laptop?

there is absolutely nothing they have over "normal laptops" besides OS X, which I wouldn't use the phrase "have over" in this case.
they're just over-glorified, regular laptops with a shiny aluminum casing that run on OS X and cost a shitload
I reiterate: there is absolutely nothing different between these laptops and Windows laptops, other than the OS

Okay :( If I were to get a mac I would probably install Windows on it anyway.
I like the MBP design and feel. Other than that the price makes my not want one. I'm sure there are other laptops designed like it that you can make a hackintosh out of.
They are generally more durable, have OS X (which is awesome), and are really sexy.
You could probably go with a refurb Macbook Pro and save a good amount, and no. You cannot disassemble the Macbook Pro and get just the unibody.

more durable? are you kidding me?
Macbook pro has "pro" in it's name, thus instantly better
more durable? are you kidding me?
no
lets see
i've had a macbook pro, dropped it, all's well
had a dell, dropped it, broke the hinge
huh

You should at least give OSX a chance. Use it for a while and get used to it before making the final call to install Windows on it. Could dual-boot in the mean time.

Battery Life, weight and keyboards are generally speaking vastly superior on MBP's than any windows laptops

That only proves it's stronger than a dell. I don't know how tough it is but by that it could still be second weakest behind dell.

So instantly all macs are more durable than all PCs?

I had a toughbook running XP and I ran it over with a car and it was fine. What's your point?
I agree, I really want a MacBook Pro.
Even though I know in my head it's just overpriced rubbish.
they're sexy as fuck. simply irresistible.

no that's specific to the hardware and laptop itself
get a room
a single room cannot contain the sexiness of a macbook pro, sorry.
macfags always seem to think that there is only one pc. its like what, you realize that a mac is just a pc with a different operating system right.
no that's specific to the hardware and laptop itself
I'm not claiming it's a fault of windows. I'm using that as a term to differentiate between Apple and non apple. Stop being retarded

What? When did I ever even mention Windows. And what term? What are you talking about?

Here's a macbook pro equivalent for cheaper.
OP, don't listen to all the blind hate and fanboys in this thread. Both systems have their cons and pros. Many people like the look, feel, and simplicity of Macs, while others care more for what's in inside, etc... It depends on what you like. If you don't mind me asking, what do you plan on using it for?
For the price of an equivalent Macbook Pro, I got a laptop with a Core 2 Quad @ 2.4Ghz, 8GB RAM, and 1TB of storage.
Now I run OSX inside of VirtualBox.

But I think the one thing Apple has going for the MBP is weight. My laptop is about 15 lbs.
