Could I leave home at Sixteen without my parents permission?
61 replies, posted
Hey FP. This has been on my mind for a while. I'd like to move in with my girlfriend and I was wondering if I could pack up my stuff and leave home without their permission.
1. Can they stop me legally?
2. Can the police force me to come back?
3. Don't say i'm an idiot, it's my choice to be honest.
4. I really dislike my homelife so moving away would be decent.
5. We have a baby on the way. (We have the money to support the baby and ourselves.)
So FP can you help me with this.
edit;
some friends have said I can just walk out. My girlfriend and her brother even said I can just walk out and my parents couldn't do anything.
I've looked on the internet and theres mixed responses so i'm unsure.
It really depends on where you live.
Well I live in Scotland.
lol your idea is terrible OP

I didn't even know that they had laws over there.
:haw:
I live in the US, so I'm not 100% sure about the laws regarding whatever they consider minors (assuming minor would still mean 18 and under), but I'd think you'd need to be emancipated in order to just flat out leave.
Goodluck.
Yes you can.
So, you are sixteen, and you and your girlfriend have a baby on the way?
and in addition you want to move out?
you do realize that funding a family costs a lot, and I doubt a sixteen year old can achieve such sum, in addition you will just be moving to your girlfriend's house? considering she is sixteen isn't she living with her parents aswell? if not, where the hell did you get a money to buy a house and pay for the taxes and such?
Also why would you ask facepunch?
LOL OP I just finished reading all of it.
you're a god damned idiot.
Atleast inform your parents and discuss it with them before you do.
You sound like an idiot.
Try it. You won't make it.

My girlfriends house has been bought and done up by her parents. They are leasing the house to her so she won't have to make any payments. We both have large summs of money in our bank accounts.
She is eighteen.
Jesus, I didn't even fully read the OP.
Your idea is stupid beyond all belief.
You had a baby at 16, way to totally fuck up life. Yet another welfare child.

It may be your choice
But it's still stupid
And you are an idiot

your $3000 of college savings will probably be able to pay for your water bills for a year.
I doubt your parents could hold you back, but seriously think this over this could make or break your life.
This all sounds like a terrible idea, why can't you wait until you are eighteen?
you only have 2 years left
Also why would an eighteen year old girl would want to be with a sixteen year old guy?
in my country girls are only into older guys.
What is happening with the world nowadays?

for the worse i can see
I don't think you'd be able to leave legally without some sort of emancipation form.
But I'm curious as to why you'd want to leave. If you have a baby on the way, wouldn't you want more family support for financial help? It'd be less strain on the parents
Shadowlolz is rating the people who say he's dumb funny.
Shadowlolz, seriously. Step out of your dream world for a second and think.

Our families will support us. My parents have said if this ever happens they'll support me and whoever im with.
Yes you can, and if they disagree, tell to go fuck themselves. If you see the police, shoot them down with this:
