I don't understand how you can make movies out of video games that are movies to begin with.
Wouldn't an Uncharted movie just be Indiana Jones?
It's impossible to make a good Metal gear movie. Metal Gear and a lot of video games would work better as a high-Budget TV show.
mgs was inspired by movies. now they're making an mgs movie. the irony and stupidity.
The point of MGS is that it's more complicated than a movie since it's fucking convoluted intentionally.
All three of those games are rip-offs of movies. Making a movie out of them is monumentally retarded.
the problem with a Mass Effect movie is that the aesthetic actually looks completely retarded if you think about it for more than a second. seriously, imagine actually trying to look cool in an armored suit of skintight latex pajamas and a motorcycle helmet, or having a weird bipedal harelipped rhino dude not look super dumb in live action. everything about Mass Effect's design is impractical and stupid if you try and convert it to the real world.
imho it would either need to be CG (completely defeats the purpose) or change the look of it so it isn't as dumb (again, completely defeats the purpose).
I think video games being adapted to movies for the sake of video games being adapted to movies are pointless. With games such as Metal Gear, there's a lot of storytelling as Avi Arad said. Squeezing that down into a two hour slot just isn't practical.

There's not much in the way of asthetics that Mass Effect came up with from scratch. There's very few characters that consider skintight latex as armour, too, and there's a bit more to the helmets that being motorcycle helmets. They're, for the most part, correctly proprtioned, and most of the human armour looks like mostly standard EVA suits that you see in other media, and even in other space games. Dead Space's engineering suit isn't all that different, for example.

None of them look retarded, and those are just random fan create things I grabbed off of google. The issue arises when you try and add in aliens, or retarded armour options that some of the cast attempt to wear.
The armous being reasonable aside, characters would be a problem. A storyline following the events of the game would be terrible because, well, the story wasn't exactly the strongpoint, and a Mass Effect movie without the characters isn't that good of an idea either, but the Mass Effect universe is large enough, and has a lot of potential, for unrelated spinoffs, despite my distaste regarding a movie adaption of Mass Effect.
Creating Turians, for example, would likely look really weird unless the movie was very heavy on the CGI. In terms of engineering, there is nothing special about Mass Effects ship designs, or colony designs etc.

you're thinking of ME1's armor, which personally I like because it has those sort of old school sci-fi vibes
2 and 3 is where you start to get the super generic gritty spess muhreen armor with hard angles and lines and urban camo
Mass Effect
I imagine too much romance being in the action

Mass Effect 1 is literally the proof that the Mass Effect aethetics are completely retarded which is why they dropped about half of that shit.

If it doesn't have gay alien sex it's not a Mass Effect movie.
You couldn't make a film about Metal Gear without it being 3+ hours long and having about 4 other films explaining what you never saw in the first.
Don't all the cutscenes in MGS (minus the codec) amount to about 5 hours?

9 in MGS4.

We don't need a shitty half-assed Metal Gear movie.
Despite how close Avi is to Hideo not even he will be able to break the spell of the whole 'all videogame based movies are shit.'
It's almost like some sort of curse that's been placed on Hollywood.
Besides, video games tend to be better than movies anyways.
Wouldn't be surprised if movies in their current form went away and video games became the successor to them.

In fact- I wonder if that's what Hollywood is afraid of.
Movies will never go, the film industry is far too big for that. It would be like movies replacing books. As a storytelling medium the three have advantages over each other. It's a bit like rock, paper, scissors really.
