Hey. My TF2 has got shit FPS lately, I have no idea why. I've tried deleting it, verifying it, defragging it. I did have a nVidia 8800 GT but I got a new GPU for Christmas. I've also uninstalled the nVidia Drivers and deleted every trace that I can think of. Here are my specs as followed: Windows 7 x64-Bit AMD Phemon Quad Core 2.60Ghz 4GB DRR2 RAM 800MHz ATI Radeon 5770 HD Any ideas? I forgot to mention, my ping is fine. Also I still get this even on the lowest settings (I've tried on dx7). I have noticed that my "in" is high. It's jumping around 100-1000. It mainly happens when I'm on a server full of people.
Well I have no clue but it might be a problem with your ping since its an online game. Or try lowering your settings.
Lower your settings.

Did you ever install the ATI drivers? [editline]12:57AM[/editline]
Lower your settings.
The 5770 can max TF2.
I did install the latist drivers 9.12.
reformat. I had the exact same issue when I went from my 7300GT to a HD4870. Driver cleaner did fuck all so I gave in and reformatted and it like tripled my FPS.

There are other programs for cleaning drivers that work, but reformat works 100%
I actually had a similar problem, i was playing TF2 on medium/low settings when i started to get insane fps drops and such, What fix it for me was turning everything to High/Very High.
Okay, I've tried formatting and I'm still getting only 10-20FPS.
It's the card then.
It started doing it on my 8800 GT.
It started doing it on my 8800 GT.
My bad, I thought you said you got a new GPU and thats when the problem started.
You could have used driver sweep to remove 8800 drivers fully Rate me clocks
temps alright?
I'm getting 30-40°C Idle.
Is multicore enable? Because it turned it self off when I got the update and I had to turn it back on. Updating drivers or new hardware can make it randomly disable itself. :P
Before i got new hard disk,I've got Windows XP and it ran TF2 on med/med/med with 4670 HD 1GB.It lagged like hell. Now that i've installed Windows 7 on totally new hard disk,it runs TF2 on high/high/high without lag at all.
I've tried single player, it's something to do with the multicore support, because loads of other people are having the same problem with AMD Phenom CPU's.
How do you mean single player? Created your own server?
Yes. I added bots to test how the performance is, and after I added so many bots I started to notice my "in" increase and my FPS started to drop.
This happened to me just now, random FPS drops and I rarely get any FPS problem.
Look's like the only thing we can do is wait for valve to release another patch.
Is it broken on Phenoms or/and Phenom II
I have a Phenom II X3 3.0ghz and sometimes I get fps drops to 30fps on 32 player servers. The reason because, TF2 still puts most of its cpu usage on the first core.
I should be good with a Phenom II x4 965?
