Hey, I'm just wondering if this is a decent enough build...
Would it run games like crysis ? If so what settings?
And half life 2 ? settings ect.
And any other games you could think of :D
Here it is:
Intel Core i3 Processor 330M(2.13GHz,3MB cache)
512 MB NVIDIA GeForce GT240M
4096MB (2x2048) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
250GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)
If you wan't any more spec's just ask :)
Thank youuu.
No, Crysis will not be playable. Do not look for a gaming system in the form of a laptop. If you want to play games, build a desktop. If you want mobility for basic tasks, buy a laptop.
Not at all ???
I've seen on websites that it will be playable, but not on max settings obviously.
And i can't get a desktop, I need something portable.
I'm never in one place !
It will run Crysis, but with low settings, which look disgusting and defeat the point of playing it at all.
As I keep saying, Crysis or Crysis like games do not run well on laptops. My suggestion would be that you get over Crysis/other visually epic games or stay put for a moment and buy a desktop.
Also, if you don't mind me asking, where do you live? If you have a home, chances are you can have a desktop!
Yeah i have a home obviously !
But i work away quite a lot all around the UK, and when i am in coventry i live between my house and my girlfriends house...
So something portable or something i get to play like an hour a week.
So i went for the portable option.
I got this last week, comes next week

You bought alienware oh dear...
Yes it should be able to play gmod but you could have done far better with your cash
I didn't pay for it, i claimed the expenses back on my company :)
I couldn't be bothered with waiting around or building my own, i wouldn't get around to it.
Far too lazy

Alienwares do have souls :(
Is a soul worth paying double for over any other computer?

3. Price 2X
4. Gimmicky
I could go on
It is when im not paying for it :D

At first i thought you were rating the best prebuilts and i was like
Oh no he dident
and then iwsa like orite
My Sony Vaio got almost identical specs... Just cheaper, and with a better GPU.
Yeh i have a sony vaio laptop (aswell as a macbook pro) Intel i3 Nvidia 260m
Though im thinking of upgrading to an Acer Aspire 8943 G or whatever its called.
Its an i7m and a 5870m :V
One thing i am going to do is get an i7 for it.
That's expensive.. Why? Your CPU won't bottleneck especially much, if, at all. Just stick with what you got, that i7 won't make Crysis playable.
It wont bottleneck at all.
Core i3, moar liek core i pee!
I'm not too bothered about crysis... it was just a plus if it did work on it.
Anything is better than the machine i have at the moment...
Even if you didn't pay for it, if you had asked this forum for advice on which laptop to get, you would have a much better one that your work could have paid for. But oh well, it's their money I guess, and no btw, Alienware do not have souls, they are a mimic company bought out by Dell that act like apple with their hardware, putting under priced hardware in overpriced computer bundles.
Also, laptop's do not upgrade well and I'm fairly sure that you cannot take out that core i3 processor and insert a core i7 like a desktop.

And anything is better than a crap Alienware.
The thing was, i needed something within the next 2 weeks, that's already built, and from a business supplier so they can claim the VAT back on expenses... which is like £150.
And finance option.
And well... i just went for it :D

Ugh. You might regret this in the future. But it will play many games well, just not Crysis on even on medium that much.
