• Tablet good for gaming?
    34 replies, posted
I mostly want to get a tablet for internet browsing, reading digital comics, and watching videos. However, I'd like the tablet to be capable of running moderate or low end 3d games. Anyone got suggestions on a brand/model/operating system to go with? Alternatively, which tablets have the best variety of games?
Alternatively, which tablets have the best variety of games?
any tablet running android
there's a razer tablet designed for gaming it's called the razer edge
Microsoft Surface?

got an asus transformer infinity and its pretty freaking good. powered by Nvidia and the +IPS screen is georgous

Nexus 7 or Nexus 10
Archos GamePad - I have one, and the reviews for it are complete bullshit. They're actually very nifty devices. [t]http://www.technobuffalo.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/archos-gamepad-7-inch-android-games-console-0.jpg[/t]

I'm probably going to get dumbs for this but honestly the iPad Mini is an alright device. They can run 3D games very well and for some games it isn't even bad that you are interfacing with a touch screen - games like Dead Space, GTA VC, Real Racing 3 etc have really intuitive user interfaces. There are tonnes of games you can get on iOS as well. The above mentioned as well as several Need for Speed titles, Battlefield, Command & Conquer, SimCity, Geometry Wars, Call of Duty (Zombies), GTA III and a spinoff called Chinatown Wars, a rather in-depth RPG called Aralon and apparently there are some MOBAs as well. If you buy an iPad you know you're going to get quality as well, people don't really think it but Apple products are very well built. The hardware in the tablet is reasonable, it's not a fragile piece of shit and the user interfaces are really smooth. Every Android device I've used including a Toshiba tablet couldn't even run the Android interface smoothly without stuttering.

Basically any tablet with a dual core processor with => 1.0ghz generally you don't need anything more than this, android 4.2 is a must for any decent tablet.
app piracy is extremely simple on android just download a cracked app from outside the market, install it, and you're done i don't know how it's on iOS though note: i am not suggesting you (or anyone else) to pirate applications [editline]19th April 2013[/editline]
android 4.2 is a must for any decent tablet
anything above 4.0.0 is enough in my opinion
Anything that isn't Razer Edge Pro
I don't really understand what the problem is. It seems to run better than my computer.
[editline]19th April 2013[/editline] expensive as fuck though
I was being a bit sarcastic, but I do agree that the tablet would make a neat little thing if it was cheaper.
a shit reply, and those aren't even tablets, they're pills! [editline]19th April 2013[/editline] expensive as fuck though
not only that it cost a a Extra $250 for gaming the gamepad part
not only that it cost a a Extra $250 for gamming the gamepad part
Gamming, I swear by god that that is now my favorite spelling mistake.
Gamming, I swear by god that that is now my favorite spelling mistake.
:( I typed it on the ipad
If you're looking for the ability to play PC games then Surface Pro or Razer Edge are probably your two best bets. The Edge has more graphical processing and mobile handles so it's probably a better bet if you want to focus on games, but I think the Surface Pro has the higher overall quality [editline]19th April 2013[/editline]
It lasts under an hour on battery.
Source? The handles have an extended battery in them that's supposed to make it last 2 or 3 hours for gaming, can't remember. http://www.techradar.com/reviews/gaming/handheld-consoles/razer-edge-review-1143829/review/2 Yup 2 hours. You're full of shit I guess

The extended battery pack ... can stretch you out to two hours of gaming, at best. Even then, using the extended battery means buying a Keyboard Dock or Gampad Controller to mount it in.
http://www.cnet.com/laptops/razer-edge-pro-core/4505-3121_7-35561052-2.html
But the whole package weighs a whopping 4.2 pounds and just barely fits in a regular-size backpack. It’s a lap-gaming experience; you’d never want to hold the Edge-with-GamePad upright for more than a minute at a time
It's bulky and heavy as shit, which ruins the portability, and to get a slightly reasonable battery life you need to buy the $250 gamepad dock, and the $70 extended battery

Don't know what you're trying to get at, I said it was supposed to be 2 or 3 hours with the extended battery, and a 3rd party review as well as your post confirmed that it was 2.
instead of the razor everyone is talking about go buy a true handheld if u really want gaming game fly is cheaper than the android store by a mile, i'd buy the 3ds but the vita is also good, then take your savings and buy a kindle for reading
The Verge, they tried running Crysis 3 on it and while it ran well the battery depleted in under an hour.
Was that with or without the extended battery that comes with the docks and such? Because according to techradar they got a little over 2 hours on far cry 3 with the handle extensions that have the extended battery pack in them. I can't see -not- using those to be honest because I don't know how you're going to play pc games on a touchscreen, you're not going to carry around a laptop and keyboard, and while I guess you could carry around a wireless controller or something it'd be a bit awkward.
You should buy one of those new Windows 8 laptop-tablet transformer things
holyshit the razor is a big expensive brick, just buy one of those win 7/8 convert able ultra books, then you can use steam games and probably save 500$
as I said earlier try out the asus transformer infinity Its a really good tablet.
