I'm looking for a laptop to use for coding, browsing, and maybe old games (age of empires 2, and similar age, etc). I also looking for a decent amount of battery life. This would be for college (I already have a desktop for gaming).
any suggestions?
the new macbook pro has gd battery life and can code on that also it has a pretty decenty gfx
because Macbooks are less than <500$ right
Netbook, but unless you get a big one coding is going to be painful

He can get a full-sized laptop for $500 that will do everything he wants. Why get a netbook?
Yeah all those $500 laptops have amazing battery life!

Weaker hardware means a less power-hungry machine. Think logically here. Even so, it doesn't take a 700$ price tag to include a decent battery.
No it doesn't. Stop being so retarded
So I guess the Intel Atom or the Pentium D are going to use up as much power as an i7 then? Interesting.
Pentium 4 towards the end was over 100W. My quad core Q6600 hits 95W.

And look at Macbooks. When they used GMA 950's, battery life was about 4 hours, but when they switched to a 9400M, it went up to 5 hours. It's what you do per watt that counts, not wattage in general
retard in this thread, 5850 is more powerful than the 4x series and it uses less power

I don't see how you have any ground calling me a retard when you recommended someone a Macbook when their budget was 500$.
I pretty much have the same question and OP. Could anyone post a Laptop/notebook for less than 500 bucks, please?

Or he could save a ton of money and wrap a netbook in tin foil and have the same thing.
