• VLC won't open when associated file opened
    5 replies, posted
Whenever I open a file that's associated with VLC, nothing happens. I need to open VLC via my start menu and browse over to whatever file I want opened. This has been going on for about a week, does anybody have a solution to it?
Use something better, VLC blows giant monkey balls. I recomend installing CCCP and using media player classic home cinima (it comes installed with CCCP) http://cccp-project.net
I really don't see how this answers my question
I really don't see how this answers my question
It answers it by disregarding it compleatly and giving you an alternative option. Because tbh, that problem could be caused by a few things, from faulty install to virus to other.
No, you're basically being a fanboy saying that my thing sucks and to use yours. It's worked perfectly until now, so there's clearly something wrong that can be fixed.
Have you tried resetting the file type associations? Also Llivavin is right. VLC is vastly inferior to Media Player Classic which comes with the CCCP codec pack he recommended, although I myself prefer the K-Lite codec pack, it's almost exactly the same thing.
